Israelis: travel in pursuit (追求) of the Book
There is a book. You can't buy it in any shop, can't send away for it online, can't meet the writer, and you probably won't be able to read it if you do find it, since much of it is written in Hebrew (希伯来语).
Dorit is the owner of a restaurant in Bolivia. Back in 1986, four Israeli backpackers came in and asked her for“the Book". Dorit had no idea what they were talking about, so they bought a notebook, wrote down their travelling experiences in Hebrew and left the notebook to Dorit. So began the historyof Dorit's restaurant as a Book centre where Israeli backpackers leave travel tips to others.
This Israeli tradition (传统) of writing the Book continues and goes intermational. The 1986 Book in Dorit's restaurant, written in Hebrew, is safely protected. Since the second Book in 1989, people of other countries have shared travel experiences too. You can see passages in Japanese and in German, describing plants in forests and recommending places for followers .... Many young Israeli backpackers simply go from Book to Book, following the advice from the Books. Outside Magazine says Israeli backpackers want to“go far, stay long, see deep".
For Israelis, it is not only about seeing the world. Until recently, they couldn't travel to a single neighbouring country for some reasons. They have to go further to get connected (连接) with the outside world. Their success in business (生意上的成功) is partly because they have been out in the world, often in pursuit of the Book.
