Sports can help you keep fit and get in touch with nature. However, whether you are on the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should know that your choice of sport might have great influence on the environment.
Some sports are resource hungry Golf, as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also tons of water. Besides, all sorts of chemicals and huge amounts of energy are used to keep its courses(球场)in good condition. This causes major environmental effects. For example, in the dry regions of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for serious water shortage in some local areas.
There are many environmentally friendly sports. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don't need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes; and you don't have to worry about resources and your wallet. Simple and free, power walking can also keep you fit. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart and bones. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less anxious, sleep well and have better weight control.
Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environmentally friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be “green gyms (健身房;体育馆)”. They are better replacements (代替物) for traditional health clubs and modern sports centers. Members of green gyms play sports outdoors, in the countryside or some other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all, it's free.
4.What do we know about golf from the passage

B.It needs water and other energy to keep its courses green.
C.It is very popular in Portugal and Spain.
D.It causes water shortages around the world.
5.Which of the following is NOT the advantage of power walking according to the passage

D.It can make you put on weight.
6.What is the main purpose of writing the passage
A.To show us some major outdoors sports.
B.To encourage us to go in for green sports.

Adrian’s “Amazing Race” started early, when his parents realized that he, as a baby, couldn’t hear a thing, even loud noises. In a special school for the hearing-impaired (听觉受损的), he learned sign language and got to mix with other disabled children. However, the sight of all the disabled children communicating with one another upset his mother. She wanted him to lead a normal life. So after speaking to an advisor, she sent him to private classes where he learned to read lips and pronounce words.
Later on, Adrian’s parents decided to send him to a regular school. But the headmaster tried to prevent them from doing so, saying regular schools couldn’t take care of a special-needs student. His parents were determined to take the risk and pushed him hard to go through his work every day because they wanted to prove that, given the opportunity, he could do anything. Adrian made the grade and got accepted. It was a big challenge. The pace was faster so he had to sit at the front of the class and really pay attention to the teacher, which wasn’t always easy. “I'm going to miss you so much, Poppy,” said the tall, thin teenager. He bent down to hug his old friend goodbye. He stood up, hugged his parents, and smiled, trying not to let his emotions(情绪)get the better of him.
His parents were not quite able to keep theirs under control. They had driven their son several hours out of town to the university where he would soon be living and studying. It was time to say goodbye for now at least. The family hugged and smiled through misty eyes and then laughed.
The boy lifted the last bag onto his shoulder, and flashed a bright smile. “I guess this is it,” he said. “I'll see you back home in a month, okay ” His parents nodded, and they watched as he walked out of sight into the crowds of hundreds of students and parents. The boy's mother turned around to tell the dog, “Okay, Poppy, time to go back home.”
The house seemed quiet as a tomb without the boy living there. All that week, Poppy didn't seem interested in her dinner, her favorite toy, or even her daily walks. Her owners were sad too, but they knew their son would be back to visit. Poppy didn't.
They offered the dog some of her favorite peanut butter treats. They even let her sit on the sofa, but the old girl just wasn't her usual cheerful self. Her owners started to get worried, “What should we do to cheer Poppy up ” asked Dad. “We've tried everything.”
“I have an idea, but it might be a little crazy,” smiled Mom. “Without anybody left in the house but us, this place could use a bit of fun. Let's get a little dog for Poppy.”
It didn't take long before they walked through the front door carrying a big box. Poppy welcomed them home as usual, but when she saw the box, she stopped. She put her nose on it. Her tail began wagging(摆动)ever so slowly, then faster as she caught the smell.
Paragraph 1:
Dad opened the box and a sweet little dog appeared.
Paragraph 2:
A few weeks later, the boy arrived home from the university.

由第一段中“But being half the size of the other boys, he could only sit on the bench and hardly ever played in games.”
由第二段中“When John went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a “walk on.”可知,当约翰上大学时,他决定参加足球队的选拔赛,成为一名临时球员。所以判断出第二段中带下划线的短语“make the cut”可替换为be allowed to join the team“被允许加入球队”。故选B。
由最后一段中“Well, you knew my dad died, but did you know that my dad was blind?”及“Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play”可知,约翰是一个临时球员,几乎没有上场的机会。

One possible version:
Dear John,

Personally, I think highly of jogging because it's beneficial to our physical and mental health.Take myself for example, I often jog in the playground for half an hour. Each time I finish it, I feel it helps to build up my body and reduce my tension.

Paragraph 1:
Dad opened the box and a sweet little dog appeared. Poppy jumped with joy at the sight of the little dog. She lowered her head to watch it curiously. Then she became so excited that she accidentally knocked over the box in an attempt to get closer. With the box tipping over, out came the little one, who was not shy and instantly got familiar with Poppy. It didn't take long before the two played around the house, cheerfully running after each other.
Paragraph 2:
A few weeks later, the boy arrived home from the university. He had been missing his parents and the dog since it was the first time that he had been away from home for such a long time. When the boy caught sight of Poppy, he went rushing toward the dog and bent down to give her a big hug. Suddenly, the boy noticed the little dog, “Oh my god, who is this ” His parents laughed at the look of surprise on his face. “It's Poppy's new companion,” said Mom.
