话说标点符号
标点符号在书面语里用来表示句子成分之间和各句之间的关系，使其思想清
楚明确，易为读者所了解。英语的标点符号与汉语的标点符号有类似之处，但也有
不同之点。试比较：

常用标点符号的用法
1逗号
逗号表示很短的停顿，用法分下列几种：
①用于句中并列词语之间，这些词语在句中有相同的语法功能。如：
The little girl likes to sing,to dance,and to act.这个小女孩喜欢唱歌、跳
舞，还有表演。

在英语中，最后一个并列成分前要用连接词and或者or.在汉语中，通常用顿号表示句中
并列成分之间的停顿。
②常用于作状语的短语如介词短语、分词短语或作状语的句子之后，与主句隔
开。如果状语的位置在句中，则状语前及后都需要有逗号。如：
When the bell rang,the teacher dismissed the class.铃声响过之后，老
师让学生下课了。
Among the favourite attractions at the National Air and Space Museum
in Washington D.C.,are the films presented on the five-story-tall screen.
华盛顿特区的国家航空航天博物馆里，最受喜爱的诱人的东西之一是在五层楼
高的屏幕上放映电影。
The audience,interested in the topic,asked many questions,听众由于
对此话题感兴趣问了许多问题。
③用于非限制性定语从句或同位语前后，进一步说明前面的名词或句子。如：
The painter lived more than a decade in Europe,where Jerome could be in
close contact with other cubists.这位画家在欧洲生活了十多年，杰罗姆可能在那
里与其他立体派艺术家保持密切的联系。
DrLi,the chairman of the board,will speak at the meeting.董事会主席
李博士将在会上发言。
④用以分隔并列复合句，此时常出现在and,as,but,for,or之前。如：
Come early,or you will miss the show.早点儿来，不然就会误了表演。
It must have rained last night,for the ground is wet.昨晚肯定下雨了，
地面是湿的。
⑤用以将附加疑问句或类似词语与句中的其他部分隔开。如：
Eugene is an excellent scholar,isn'the 尤金是位优秀的学者，是吗？
You live in Beijing,right 你住在北京，对吧？
⑥在直接引语中作者提示“某某说”之类的词语(he said,she told me,etc.)用
逗号与引用语分开。如：
“This house is very big and beautiful,”said Fritz.“这所房子又大又漂
亮，”弗里茨说。
⑦引语里面的引语用逗号隔开。如：
"When the Judge said,Not guilty',I could have hugged him."
“当法官宣布，‘无罪’，我当时真想去拥抱他。”
⑧当时间顺序是月一天一年份时，用逗号隔开。如：
