Students read and recognize all the new words and phrases: raise,disabled,teenager,offer,suffer,serious,illness,organize,express,pain,lonely,friendship,difficulty,joy,peace,hurt,courage,spirits and in need,voluntary work, suffer from, raise one’s spirits. 2.Try to guess the meaning of the new words according to the context, and understand the content of the three reports by further reading. 3. Let students establish the awareness of serving others and protecting the weak.

Lead the Ss to finish the exercise before reading. Enable Ss to get to know what they will learn and get well prepared. 5
While- reading Step 5: Fast-reading: Do the True or False exercise. Step 6: Careful reading: Listen to and read the three reports one by one, then finish the reading tasks after each report. Step 7: Read the reports on page 3 and complete the notice below. Fast read and carefully read the reports and finish the reading tasks. Lead the Ss complete the tasks while reading. Reading with tasks and strategies can help improve their reading skills. 12
Post- reading  Step 8: Group work: to talk about the voluntary work experience. Step 9: Learn some key sentences and key words and phrases from the text, summarize them after learning.
