What's in a name What does your name say about you, where you’re from or your status (身份) in life While Chinese names have the family name before the given name, it’s quite different in other countries around the world.
Many common first names in the English language have their origins(起源) in the Bible (《圣经》), even if the parents choosing the names aren’t religious (有宗教信仰的). Many English-language family names first came from the names of different jobs, such as Baker, Fisher, Cook or Smith.
In other parts of the world, people look to the stars for names. In India, some children are named after the stars of constellations (星座) they’re born under.
Other countries use only a single name! In Bali, Indonesia, children are named according to birth order and have no family name. Names are often unisex (不分性别的). It means they work for both boys and girls.
Traditionally, Native Americans choose names according to nature and animals, such as Eagle Eye or Dancing Wind. A Native American name can reflect(反映) your personality, your accomplishments (成就) or things that have happened to you. These names can change during your life. Modesty( 谦逊) is a valuable quality in many cultures around the world. However, the phrase “Mao Sui recommending himself ” seems to disagree with this.During the Warring States Period, the Qin army marched(进军) on Handan. Seeing that Handan was in danger, Prince Pingyuan decided to ask the state of Chu for help. He wanted to pick 20 talented people to go with him. However, he could only find 19 people who were good enough. Then, a man named Mao Sui volunteered.
Prince Pingyuan looked at Mao Sui with doubt,“How long have you been here with me ”
“Three years," Mao Sui answered.
“I hear that a person with talent is like an awl(锥子)in a cloth bag. Its sharp point will soon pierce(戳) through the bag. You've been here for a long time, but I haven't seen any of your achievements.Maybe you don't have any talent.”said Prince Pingyuan.
“What I'm asking you now is to put me into that bag. If you do that, I will pierce through it. But not only the point -the whole awl," Mao Sui said confidently.
Impressed, Prince Pingyuan allowed Mao to join his team, and Mao proved very helpful, Now the phrase“Mao Sui recommending himself” is used to describe someone who volunteers to do a task.

Thanks to the Earth, we have fresh air to breathe, clean water to drink and warm sunshine to enjoy. But it seems that we haven't realized that the Earth is facing many environmental challenges and it is getting "sick".
Scientists say that of all the environmental challenges, climate(气候) change is the biggest one. The temperature on the Earth has risen by more than 0.5 C since 1992. Cities like Singapore and Tokyo that are at low altitudes(海拔) may be covered by the ocean(海洋) in the future.
But this is not the only problem people are facing. Since 1992, the human population has grown by 2 billion, while the population of all other animals has dropped by nearly 30 percent. At the same time, water pollution has become serious. We are also facing problems like light pollution, noise pollution and so on.
However, we have made some progress in saving the Earth. For example, we stop using harmful materials to make the hole in the ozone layer(臭氧层) smaller to slow the rise of the temperature. We do a lot of work to help the animals in danger, or more than two thirds of the worlds wild animals may disappear(消失) by the end of 2020.

Tong Zexi, a 15-year-old student from Harbin, has not gone out in more than 20 days. “I know I need to protect myself and cause no trouble. In this key time, when one gets sick, many others could be influenced.”

On Feb 3, Zhao Junyan, a Junior 2 student from Shanghai, brought 15,000 masks from Indonesia back to China, People’s Daily reported. Zhao, while traveling in Jakarta, collected the masks with his uncle, who works in the city. The 15-year-old gave away all of the masks to Cangnan, Zhejiang, his hometown. “When a country is in trouble, everyone is responsible to help,” Zhao said to the reporter. “What I have done is what an normal Chinese person can possibly do.”
