Content:
Lesson 22 Big Plans for the Weekend
Analysis of the content:
This lesson is selected from Unit 4, the second book of Grade Seven. The topic of this unit is After-school activities. And this lesson is about the plans for the weekend. I will spend 60mins finishing this lesson. This class will focus the first 40mins on listening, speaking and writing. Language points will not appear in this class.
Analysis of the Ss:
Lesson 22 is placed in the middle of Unit 4, Ss have already learnt about some after-school activities from the above lessons. Therefore, they can express some simple after-school activities by themselves.
Teaching aims:
Language aims:
After this lesson, Ss can use “be going to” to express their plans for the weekend in English.
Knowledge aims:
1、Ss can understand the meaning of the words:
in a hurry, somewhere, actually, surf the Internet, cooking, do housework
2、 Ss can use “be going to” to express their plans.
3、Ss can make use of the following phrases to express their after-school activities:
stay home; read a book; surf the Internet; watch TV; do some housework
Learning strategies:
Self-study , pair work and group work
Cultural awareness:
There are many slangs in English. Ss are able to understand the different meanings of the same phrase.
Emotional attitude:
After this lesson, Ss can find some interesting things in their spare time, so that they can
make their life colorful and meaningful, and enjoy their life at the same time.
Moral aim:
Ss can develop their own consciousness of cooperation or team spirits through pair work and group work .
Important & Difficult points :

pictures; PowerPoint; mp3 player; projector
Teaching process:
Step 1: Warming up:
Free talk: What do you usually do on weekends
(Ss talk about their activities on weekends.)
Step 2: Guessing game (New words)
(T shows some pictures and sentences to the Ss to develop Ss’ ability to guess words.)
Check One: Match the words with the correct meanings.
( Use English and pictures to explain English words. Students can easily grasp the meaning of the new words.)
Step 3: Read and act.
( Before reading and acting, Ss listen to the audiotape first to make sure they can get the correct pronunciations; secondly, T leads Ss to read the dialogue again and after that, Ss practice the dialogue with their desk mates. Several minutes later, T encourages the students to act out the dialogue.)
Check Two: Ss act out the dialogue.
Step 4: Read the dialogue again and answer the following questions:
1、 What is Danny going to do this weekend
2、 What does Jenny usually do on weekends
Check Three: Ss read the dialogue again and answer the following questions:
1、 What is Danny going to do this weekend
Danny is going to make donuts.
2、 What does Jenny usually do on weekends
Jenny usually just stays home, reads a book, surfs the Internet, watches TV and help mum with housework.
( Ss read the dialogue again to get a deeper understanding of the dialogue. Ss can develop their reading skills by answering the questions.)
Step 5: What are they going to do
(Practice “be going to”)
Step 6: Brainstorming: group work: How many after-school activities do you know
T encourages Ss to say as many after-school activities as they can.
(Get students to be prepared for writing .)
Step 7: Dig-in Who is who cook VS. cooker
( T help Ss to tell the difference between cook and cooker.)
Step 9: Summary

( At the end of the class, Ss draw a conclusion to what have learnt today.)
Homework
Writing:What is your plan for the weekend
Requirement: Use the structure “be going to do”
You can use the following expressions:
listen to music, read a book, watch TV/movies, surf the Internet,
do housework, go shopping/climbing…
( Ss can consolidate expressions of after-school activities, and improve the expression skills at the same time.)
课外拓展: May I go somewhere
Visitor: I drank too much water. May I go somewhere
Tour guide: Yes, you can go anywhere in China
Here “go somewhere” means “ go to toilet/ WC”.
We can use another way to express the same meaning: go to see John
Do you know more Go and find after class.
( Ss must be interested in this process. They will find English funny. This can also develop students’ interest in learning English.)
