定语从句
定义
定语：相当于形容词，修饰名词或代词。
定语从句：用一个句子来修饰名词或代词。

定语从句的引导词
连接代词：that, which, who, whom, whose…
连接副词：when, where,why
定语从句的先行词
先行词就是定语从句所修饰的名词或代词。

连接代词
that：当先行词是表示人或事物的名词或代词时，用that；在从句中作主语或宾语
The book that you borrowed me is very interesting.
I know the man that helped me yesterday.
I want to see something that is beautiful.

which：当先行词是表示事物的名词或代词时，用which；在从句中作主语或宾语
The bike which I bought last week is broken.
I know a school which is very famous.

who：当先行词是表示人的名词或代词时，用who；在从句中作主语或宾语
whom：在从句中作宾语。
He is the man who/whom I hate.
Those who have study hard will succeed.

只用that的情况 1. 先行词为all, everything, anything, nothing, little, much,等不定代词时。 2. 先行词被all, any, every, each, much, little, no, some, few等修饰时。 3. 先行词有形容词最高级和序数词修饰时。 4. 先行词既指人又指物时。 5. 先行词被the only, the very修饰时。 6. 句中已经有who或which时，为了避免重复时。 1. He told me everything that he knows.

定语从句引导词的省略
引导词在从句中作宾语时可以省略
He is the man who I hate.

非限制性定语从句
从结构上看，从句和主句之间用逗号分开;
非限制性定语从句的先行词除名词或代词外，还可以是整个主句

如何选择引导词
先判断引导词在从句中做什么成分。若是主语或宾语或定语，则从连接代词中做选择；若是作状语，则从连接副词作选择。
再根据先行词的词义判断，是指人、指物、指时间、指原因或指地点，从而选择相应的引导词。
注意个别引导词的特殊用法。
