Fires are always dangerous, especially when they happen at home. According to some surveys, kitchens are the places where the fires usually happen. Everyone should remember these suggestions about preventing a kitchen fire.
★Don't leave cooking food without being watched. If you're cooking food, you must stay in the kitchen. If you need to leave the kitchen, turn off the gas burner first. It's a good idea to have a timer which can make a sound when a certain amount of time has passed. In this way you can check the food regularly.
★Always watch what you're cooking. Many fires happen because of cooking at too high temperatures. You should always keep an eye on your food. You must turn off the gas burner if you see smoke or oil boiling.
★Don't wear long loose sleeves (袖子) while cooking. Loose clothing may cause some accidents. For example, loose sleeves can easily touch open fires. You can choose to wear close fitting clothing. Besides, long hair can also cause accidents. If you have long hair, be sure to tie it up when you are cooking.
★Keep any flammable objects away from a stove (厨房灶具) or a gas burner (燃烧器).It's common to set a towel (毛巾) next to the stove and forget about it. If objects like towels get too close to a stove or a gas burner, they will catch fire easily. You must keep those objects away and put them in right places.
★Keep children away from the cooking area. Make a rule that they must stay at least 3 feet away from the cooking area, or any area where you are preparing hot food and drink.
★Check smoke detectors (探测器) often. Smoke detectors are very useful. So make sure you have them on all floors of your home. You should have a smoke detector either inside or just outside of your kitchen. You should check your smoke detectors often to make sure they are working fine.

You might have been a pedestrian before when you were walking to school or to a friend's house. If you are walking near traffic, always use the side walk. Avoid walking on the edge of the sidewalk. Walk closer to buildings just to give some extra room between yourself and traffic.
What if you need to get to a different side of street Use something called crosswalk. This is a lane that protects pedestrians. There are traffic signals at a crosswalk that will tell you when it is safe to walk and when you should wait. Even if the sign says it is safe, always look in both directions to make sure a car isn't coming.
Sometimes you might want to ride your bike to go to visit a friend or to school. There are some important things to
remember when traveling by bike to stay safe from traffic.

五、读写综合
A.回答问题
请阅读下面的一篇文章,根据文章所提供的信息,回答问题。
We all know that playgrounds are places that offer kids fresh air, friends, and exercise. However, each year, more than 200,000 kids in China go to hospital because they are hurt when they are playing on the playground. So what can we do to improve the situation
We should make sure the playground is safe for the children. It should be soft and thick enough, so when the children fall, they won't hurt too much. Things like water, rocks or broken glass might cause danger to the kids. Cleaners should check the playground from time to time and clear away these dangerous things. In fact, children themselves also need to help keep the playground clean and safe. That means each time after playing they should pick up the rubbish they've
produced, especially after a sports meeting. If someone finds there is something wrong with the equipment (设施), he should report to the keeper of the playground, so people will come to fix it.
Teaching kids how to play safely is also very important. If they know the rules of the playground, they won't get hurt easily. For example, they should never push when others are on seesaws (跷跷板) or swings (秋千).If someone is going to
jump off some equipment, he should first look down to make sure no other kids are in the way. Of course, wearing right clothes may also help to keep safe. Clothes with strings (绳) can get caught on equipment which may hurt the kid badly.
In short, our kids can both enjoy themselves and be safe if we are working together to improve the situation of playgrounds.
1.How many kids in China go to hospital because of the hurt on the playground every year
2.What things might cause danger to the kids on the playground
More than 200,000 kids in China go to hospital (because of the hurt on the playground every year).

3.When a kid find something is wrong with the equipment, what should he do
4.Why should we teach kids how to play safely on the playground
He should report to the keeper of the playground.
Because they won’t get hurt easily if they know the rules of the playground.
5.What kind of clothes can be caught on equipment

Rules are everywhere in our life, such as family rules, traffic rules, school rules, and so on. But is it really necessary for us to follow rules I think the answer is yes. Take myself for example.
When I was fifteen years old, I thought I was old enough to neglect the traffic rules. So I often rode a bike on the road wearing headphones. One day, when I was enjoying the music
on my bike, a truck suddenly appeared and seemed to lose control. Unfortunately, I was badly hit and sent to the hospital. However, I was lucky So that was the result I got. From the experience I have learned a lesson: following rules is not only necessary but also important no matter where we are. enough to recover in a year.
