一、阅读单选
When people have different opinions or needs, conflicts(矛盾) may happen. Naomi Drew, the writer of The Kids’ Guide to Working Out Conflicts: How to Keep Cool, Stay Safe, and Get Along, give kids some useful advice on getting on with friends.
Question 1: A friend of mine often hangs out with our friends, but he has never invited me. What can I do
Answer 1: If a friend does something you don’t like, don’t be afraid to talk to him. Don’t be angry with him.
Try to make him understand your feelings so that you can work through it together.
Q2: My friend is not polite to other people. She said if I didn’t act like her, she would stop being my friend.
A2: Never “sell out” just to follow one friend. Do what you believe is right, and you can even find some new friends.
Q3: My friend and I argue( 争 论 ) a lot. Although we’ll be friends again soon, I don’t like it. What should I do
A3: “Winning an argument” isn’t always worth it. Next time when you argue, let your friend “win” if the thing is not important to you. If you give in a little, so may your friend. And remember, probably your friend isn’t wrong. He or she just sees things differently.

In choosing a friend, one should be very careful. A good friend can help you study. You can have fun together and make each other happy. Sometimes you will meet fair weather friends. They will be with you as long as you have money or luck, but when you are down, they will run away. How do you know when I have found a good friend I look for certain qualities of character, especially understanding, honesty and reliability.
Above all else, I look for understanding in a friend. A good friend tries to understand how another person is feeling. He is not quick to judge. Instead, he tries to learn from others. He puts himself in the other person’s place, and he tries to think of ways to be helpful. He is also a good listener.
At the same time, however, a good friend is honest. He does not look for faults in others. He notices their good points. In short, a friend will try to understand me and accept me.
Another quality of a friend is reliability. I can always depend on a good friend. If he tells me he will meet me somewhere at a certain time, I can be sure that he will be there. If I need a favor, he will do his best to help me. If I am in trouble, he will do his best to help me.
There is a fourth quality that makes a friend special. A special friend is someone with whom we can have fun. We should enjoy our lives, and we will enjoy our friendship. That is why I especially like friends who are fun to be with. A good friend likes the same things I like. We share experience and learn from each other. A good friend has a good sense of humor, too. He likes to laugh with me. That is how we share in the joy of being friends. And I know that he is looking for the same quality in me.
When I meet someone who is reliable, honest, and understanding, I know I’ve found a friend.
6.Which of the following qualities the writer thinks is the most important in choosing a friend ________
A.understanding B.honesty C.reliability D.a sense of humor
7.What does “fair weather friend” in paragraph one mean ________
A.天气好时认识的朋友 B.能带来好天气的朋友 C.不能患难与共的朋友 D.公平的朋友
8.If you have fair weather friends, ________.
A.they will give you all that they have when you need help B.you will be refused when you get into trouble
C.you will become rich D.you can be sure that you get real friends
9.Good friends need to ________.
A.always point out each other’s mistakes B.be helped with money
C.understand each other’s feelings D.have money or luck
10.This passage mainly discusses ________.
A.the qualities of a friend B.where to choose friends
C.how to get along with friends D.the importance of having a friend
二、阅读回答问题
Who do you think are the most important people in your life, your parents, your sisters or brothers, or your friends As teenagers, we think our answer must be “friends”. Some of us often say our parents don’t understand us. In large families, brothers and sisters often fight with each other. So most of us think friends are the most important people in our lives.
It is very important for teenagers to have one good friend or a group of friends. Maybe because we can discuss some private (私人的) things with friends. Of course we won’t tell these things to our family members.
However, parents often try to choose friends for us. They may even stop us from meeting some of our best friends. In fact, they do it just because they care for us too much. But they often don’t understand our real feelings. How can you solve this problem

三、阅读判断
Boys, like girls, need friends. Many people believe that boys need fewer friends than girls do. In fact, boys are much happier and healthier when they have good friends.
There are some differences in friendships between girls and boys. For example, Amy and Sarah are the best friends. They walk to school together every morning, and always eat lunch together. While they sometimes read books, play games, their heads are always close together. They talk about everything. Jason and Leo are friends. Jason sometimes talks with Leo about his parents’ divorce (离婚) because he knows that Leo’s parents are divorced, too. But they only talk to each other and keep the secret. When the other boys are around, they play ball games or talk about other things like their favorite films.
People believe that girls are better at making friends, but most boys think making friends is an important part of their lives. Boys may be better at keeping friendships than girls.
