Unit 4 At the farm Let’s spell教案
Part1:Theoretical Basis
Language competence is the most important one of English key competences. According to the New English Curriculum Standard, phonics teaching is an important part of language teaching. Natural and accurate pronunciation will make a good foundation for oral communication. Phonics teaching should focus on the combination of meaning and context. In order to lead students to imitate correct pronunciation and develop phonetic ability, I choose this phonics lesson.
Part2:Analysis of the Teaching Material
It’s the third period of this unit. And there are 3 parts in it. The first one is “Read, listen and chant”. It shows the pronunciation rules of OR in the words.
The next one is “Read, listen and number”. It helps students perceive and distinguish the two different pronunciations of OR by doing listening activities.
The last one is “Read, listen and write”. It helps the students to write the words according to the rules of pronunciation.
The students have learned the pronunciation of er, ur, ir, al that contained vowels. They have mastered the basic method of phonics. In my opinion, this lesson will make a solid foundation for future study.
Part3:Analysis of the students
As for students in Grade 4, they are active, curious. But on the other hand, their attention is unstable and not lasting.
The students can use the phonics to spell the simple words. I want to help them make the habit of phonics, and master the learning style of phonics.
Part4:Teaching aims
1. The knowledge and skill aims: Can perceive and sum up the rules of OR’s pronunciation in words. Can use phonics rules to read the word which contains letters OR.
2. The process and method aims: Be able to observe, perceive, compare, play and cooperate by using phonics, the ability of exploration and induction can be improved.
3. The emotion aim:Can Improve their learning interests and cooperation awareness. And the students’ ability of finding the rules of the letters’ pronunciation can be developed.
Part5:Teaching key points and difficult points
The key point of this lesson is to perceive and sum up the rules of OR’s pronunciation. Can read the words and write the words according to the rules.
For them, the difficult point in learning is the induction of pronunciation rules about OR.
Part6:Teaching methods and learning methods
To achieve these teaching goals, I lead the students to listen, distinguish, split and connect the syllables on the basis of their learning experience. Help them to perceive and sum up the rules by themselves. Help students consolidate and enhance by various activities. This teaching method is also consistent with the core competence of English Teaching.
Part7:Teaching steps and purposes
Step1. Read the words and review the rules of phonics that have been learned.
Play a game: Whack a mole. I’ll invite the students to read the words contained combination of letters they have learned.
Purpose:In this step, students’ attention will be attracted. They will join in our activities actively and positively.
Step2. The students are directed to explore the rules of OR’s pronunciation.
1. Introduce a new friend. (My name is York. I have short hair. I am from New York. I like story books. I do sports in the morning.)
Purpose:In this part, I will put the words in the sentences, from easy to difficult, begin our phonics lesson.
2. I will invite students to read the red words in pairs and find the same.
Purpose:Try to perceive and sum up the rules of OR’s pronunciation by themselves.
3. Watch a chant about OR and follow it.
Purpose: I will let the students remember the pronunciation of OR by reading after the tape.
4. I will change the letters before or after OR and invite students to read them.
Purpose:This game can help us consolidate the teaching achievements.
Purpose:By this further activity, I lead students to build knowledge system and deeply study.
Step3. Explore the rules of (W)OR’s pronunciation actively.
1. Enjoy a story:
Purpose:Using this story, I Design a language situation and arouse students' positive thinking.
2. I will lead them to fill in the blanks:York has horns. The bird likes horns. The horns can help mum work.
Listen to the tape about‘work’. Explore the rules of (W)OR’s pronunciation.
3. I will show more words with WOR. Read and discuss in pairs, try to find another rule of OR’s pronunciation.
4. I will design a game here using a word flower. I will invite students to read the words on this flower such like: worm, worst, worth and so on. In order to practice and make the boring words more interesting. I think in this part, most students can read the words very well.
Step4. Consolidate and practice the phonics rules.
1. Play a game. In this part, I will invite the students to read the words and put them to the right places.
2. Another game: choose the different one.
3. Next activity is “Look, listen and number”. The last activity is “Look, listen and write”. I will invite students to write the answers on the blackboard.
Purpose:In this part, students will listen, distinguish and connect the syllables in order to consolidate the phonics we have learned.
Step5. Read the story, using the phonics we have learned.
Try to read the story . I will lead the students to improve the ability of learning and using language.
Step6. Homework
1. Read the text with your friends.
2. Read the story about York’s horns with emotion.
3. Search more words with “or”, try to read together with your friends.
Part8:Blackboard Design
1. The title of this lesson.
2. The game stage.
3. The students write the words here.
Part9:Teaching reflection
By learning this lesson, I believe the students will have a better understanding of the rules of OR’s pronunciation. In addition, students’ exploration and induction skills will also be improved. May be some students can’t join in the activities actively. In the future, I will explore how to improve the language ability of students, and how to achieve the key competence of English Teaching in every class.
