The Internet has changed the world. People are able to connect and share information in seconds. However，the Internet has advantages and disadvantages.

Some of the advantages are truly wonderful . In many ways it makes life easier and simpler . It helps us get things done more quickly . It opens up the world to us . And if a friend lives far away, the Internet makes it easy to stay in touch.
But every coin has two sides. Some of the disadvantages can become real problems if we don’t take care . Spending too much time online is harmful to people’s health . It may even cause them to be less social with family and friends . Aside from that，some people attack the web or use the Internet to steal others’ personal information, even banking information .
The Internet can be a useful tool，but don’t let it take up all of your time . Use the Internet properly and carefully and it can make your life more colourful.

be able to (1)强调通过努力而获得的能力；
(2)有人称、时态和数的变化；
(3) 可用于多种时态。
can (1)强调自身已具备的能力；
(2)无人称和数的变化，且只有一般现在时(can )和一般过去时( could ) 两种时态；
(3)can还可以表示请求和允许，而 be able to 无此用法。
辨析：be able to 与can

get sth. done 使某事被做 get表示“使；让”, 过去分词done在此作宾语补足语。

far away 意为“遥远”, 表示距离, 在句中作状语或表语, 有时away 可以省略。如果表示“离……很远”, 则用“far away from...”。如果away前有具体的数字修饰时, 则不用far。
e.g. He lives far away from the school. 他住得离学校很远。
My home is 5 miles away from the school.
我家离学校有五英里远。
stay in touch 保持联系
同义短语为keep in touch。其中touch 作名词, 意为“联系”。
e.g. I have stayed/kept in touch with him since we parted.
自从我们分开以后, 我与他一直保持联系。
Please stay/keep in close touch with me.
请与我保持密切联系。

相当于do harm to... 它的反义短语为be good for... 意为“对……有好处”。
e.g. Watching TV too much is harmful to your eyes.

cause v. 使发生；引起；造成 常用结构：
cause sb. sth. = cause sth. to/for sb.给某人带来某事
cause n . 原因；起因；理由；动机

cause 起因；指引起某种后果的起因。 cause 常与of 连用, 即“the cause of...”。 The cause of the accident was that he drove too fast. 事故的起因是他开车太快。
reason 理由, 原因；指决定做某一件事或采取某一行动的理由, 由此而得出结论或解释。 reason 常与for 连用, 即“the reason for...” The reason for my absence was that I was ill. 我缺席的原因是我生病了。
辨析：cause与reason
less adj.& adv. (little 的比较级) 更少的(地)；更小的(地) n. 较少量；较小的部分
e.g. The film was less interesting than the book.
这部电影不如书有趣。
① less 更少的, 作形容 词讲时, 常用来修饰不可数名词。是little的比较级。 We have less coffee than you have. 我们的咖啡比你们的少。 一 语 辨异： We

② fewer 更少的, 作形容词讲时, 常用来修饰可数名词复数。是few的比较级。 They have fewer eggs than you have. 他们的鸡蛋比你们的少。 辨析：less 与fewer
