Ability objectives Enable the Ss to understand the words and read it fluently. Enable the Ss to use the dialogue and act it out. Enable the Ss to chant freely. Enable the group Ss to show and describe the farm.
Emotional objectives Foster the Ss’ abilities in listening, speaking and reading, courage them to participate the class activities enthusiastically. Help Ss foster a good emotional attitude of vegetables.
Key points and difficulties 1. Read the words fluently and correctly. 2. Pay attention to the four-skill words & dialogue. 3. Make a new dialogue with partners and act it out vividly. 4. Group Ss to describe the farm.
Teaching aids book, CAI, exercise paper, stickers
Analysis of the students The students are in Grade four and they have learned English for more than 3 years. They have been divided into different pairs according to their seats. They will describe the vegetables at the farm. They are familiar with the class rules and common orders. They love chanting and singing, they like to communicate and cooperate with others.
Teaching steps
Warm up Sing:《The fruits and vegetables》 2. T: Spring is coming, let’s go to the farm. And pick up some fruits. T: Say the name of fruits ,as quickly as you can. Ss: apples, bananas, pears, ... New Lesson: 1.T: I have some vegetables . Guess, What is it (1)Students touch the vegetables and guess “ It’s a carrots.” Show a picture of carrort: What’s this It’s a carrot. What are these They are carrots. Show some big carrots, say: Look at these carrots. They’re so big. (2)Students touch the vegetables and guess “tomato”. Show a picture of tometo: What’s this It’s a tometo. What are these They are tometoes. (3) Show some yellow tomatoes, say: Look, what are these Ss: tomatoes. Teach:Try some. They’re good. 2. Play the game (1)Game “What’s missing ” Look at the pictures correctly, find out and say the words which one is missing. T: What’s missing (2) Teach words: potatoes, green beans from the game. 3. Show the picture of tomatoes and carrorts: Are these carrots Yes, they are. No, they aren’t. Pair work. 4. Guessing game, cover the part of the pictures, and then guess the picture what they are. Use sentences “ Are these … Yes, they are. No, they aren’t.” to guess the pictures. Teach: cucumbers, onions 5.T: Are you happy at the farm Now Our friends, Sarah and Mike, are at the farm. Let’s go and see. (1)Watch the video quietly. (2)I have 3 questions. Answer my questions. ①How many vegetables can you see ②What colour are the tomatoes ③Are the carrots big or small (3)Open your English book. Listen again. (4)Please answer my questions. 6.(1)Listen and repeat. (2)Practice the dialogue in groups. (3)After reading, please finish“ I can read” in groups. 7. Group work (1) Draw your new farm. (2) Introduce your new farm in your groups . 8. Summery Vegetables and fruits are healthy food. We should eat more. Ss watch the vedio and sing the English song.
