More than twenty-nine thousand foreign exchange students attended American high schools last year. Foreign exchange students can get the chance to learn more about American culture and Americans. They make new friends and experience many different things in new places. But they also have problems because they are far from home and maybe they can’t understand others well.
To become an exchange student in American high school, students must have completed at least eleven years of school and have done well. They must be between the ages of fifteen and eighteen. They must also speak English well.

When my family moved to America from a small village in Guangdong, China, we brought not only our luggage, but also our village rules, customs and culture. Thanks to my teachers and friends' help, I have learnt much. In the past year, I have been in the school club. I have learnt a lot from others. When I had problems, you always came to help me. More than twenty-nine thousand foreign exchange students attended American high schools last year. Foreign exchange students can get the chance to learn more about American culture and Americans. When my family moved to America from a small village in Guangdong, China, we brought not only our luggage, but also our village rules, customs and culture. One of the rules is that young people should always respect elders. Unluckily, this rule led to my very first embarrassment in the United States.
