My 7-year-old daughter Leeny always has her nose in a book. She even took a reading in the car on the long drive to summer camp, which was where she lost the book. This is the first lost library book in my life. My family has always been overeducated, but we were poor. I didn't own books. I borrowed books. However, my daughters have more books now than I had in my whole childhood, and I knowingly contributed to it by adding to the stacks. So it's probably my fault that when Leeny realized she had lost the book, she shrugged. “Sorry. I can't find it,” she said. “It's only $20, right . What's the big deal ”
I felt the need to make her few responsible for the book. She agreed to help me clean the chicken poop in trade for my paying the library fine. I thought this idea was very clever because cleaning the poop is some work I had been avoiding for months. It was summertime and dust floated in the air. But my girl, my animal-loving mimi-me, thought shoveling chicken poop was the most fun she'd had on a Saturday morning in a long time. She didn't feel any of the emotions that punishment is supposed to introduce. In fact, she looked as if she might lose another on purpose in order to clean the poop again. I stood, somewhat dumbfounded, watching her.
It took me a while to realize what had happened, why my punishment had failed so completely and why she didn't care. The fact is that I had Leeny helped me clean the chicken poop and I was there, too, shoving chicken poop, fetching the clean straw and feed. Leeny's little sister, Vicki, was inside watching a cartoon while my husband paid bills. Only Leeny and I were outside. She had me all to herself for the first time since Vicki was born, and she was enjoying all the attention for once. I don't know what she learned about responsibility, but I found that I didn't care about the book any more. We bonded over that unpleasant job and spent quality time together: mother, daughter, and chicken poop.
How does Leeny find reading
It is very challenging.
It is better to be done in a library.
It is full of enjoyment
It costs a large fortune.
What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 1 refer to
The author’s daughters own too many books.

The author didn't own many books.

Upset.
What's the best title for the passage
What I Own to Leeny: More Attention

Surprise: My Daughter Loves Cleaning Chicken poops.

C
For years, I was in the rat race. My sense of wonder lost. Gardening was my antidote(解药). It gave me time to stop, listen and absorb all the little details that nature has to offer-nurturing the earth, plants and myself helps me to fight against the aggression and tiredness of everyday working life.
I quit my job and had a vision for my company. I wanted others to find the comfort that my garden gave me. Now, I watch my clients experience their own transformations. A corner that was once an unwelcoming place of weeds is a child’s play area; a lonely person has an inspiring, evolving view.
Gardening requires us to be present in the moment, while also imagining the future. You may see a beautiful flower and feel surprised for a minute at the magic of nature. Some flowers last for a day, others for a season. Some come back year after year. Seasons pass and you become connected to the changes in life in a deeper, more spiritual way. This builds acceptance.
Where there once may have been beauty, there might now be an empty space and a deep sense of sadness... But gardening brings hope-we can create something beautiful again and that space will no longer be bare.
Hope is one of many emotions stirred by gardening. Whether you’re growing vegetables to eat, planting tiny seeds or tending flowers, there is always a great sense of satisfaction at the end of a session. How you choose to garden is deeply personal to you-it's about creating something fruitful, alone or with others.
What does the underlined phrase “the rat race” refer to
The fierce race among rats.
The tiredness of the family.
The competitive working life.
The bad relationship with neighbors.
What does the author benefit from gardening
It helps to develop a take-it-as-it-is attitude.
It relieves anxiety about losing the job.
It releases her loneliness and depression.
It teaches her a lot of sowing knowledge.
What can we infer about gardening according to the author
It’s beautiful.
It's rewarding.
It's depressing.
It’s cooperative.
What is the best title for the test
Gardening for Fun.
A Sense of Wonder.
Sowing Seeds of Hope.
A Vision for the Future.

Every animal species carries unique viruses that have been specifically adapted to infecting it. Over time, some of these have jumped to humans-these are known as “zoonotic” viruses.
As the population grows, we move into wild areas, which brings us into more frequent contact with animals we don't normally have contact with. Thus viruses can jump from animals to humans and they can spread between humans, through close contact with body fluids(体液)like blood or urine.
Because every virus has evolved to target a particular species, it’s rare for a virus to be able to jump to another species. When this does happen, it's by chance, and it usually requires a large amount of contact with the virus.
Initially, the virus is usually not well-suited to its new host and doesn't spread easily. Over time, however, it can evolve in the new host to produce variants that are better adapted.
When viruses jump to a new host, a process called zoonosis, they often cause more severe disease. This is because viruses and their initial hosts have evolved together, and the species has time to build up resistance. The new host species, on the other hand, might not have evolved the ability to tackle(应对) the various. For example, when we come into contact with bats and their viruses, we may develop rabies of Ebola virus disease, while the bats themselves are less affected.
It's likely that the bats are the original source of three recently emerged coronavariouses: SARS-CoV(2003), MEWS-CoV(2012)and SARS-CoV-2. All of these jump from bats to humans via an intermediate animal: in the case of SARS-CoV-2, this may have been pangolins(穿山甲), but more research is needed.
Why is it rare for a virus to infect another species
The new host can't deal with the virus.
The new species builds up resistance.
Every virus can’t adapt to the new species.
Each virus develops to target a specific species.
What is the fifth paragraph mainly about
The resistance of the old species.
The ability of the new host species.
The process of the viral infection.
The reason for the various variation.
Which of the following viruses are most likely to host in pangolins
SARS-CoV.
SARS-CoV-2.
Not mentioned.
MEWS-CoV.
What can we infer from the text
Humans should not move into wild areas.
Wild animals are actually our best friends.
A virus can spread from animals to humans.
A virus can vary to infect another species.

My July vacation began with a screen, “ Lora!” I woke, with my eyes snapping open. I realized that my four-year-old sister, Jenny was staring at me. I struggled to push her away from me as she jumped on my legs. She screamed and then run out of my room.
It was as if Jenny had never done anything wrong. If Jenny got angry, Mom would say she was trying to get her point across. When Jenny broke a plate, Dad said she was just “helping” me empty the dishwasher. When Jenny scattered flour all over the floor, instead of scolding her, my parents laughed and said, “she's turning into a baker just like you, Lora.”
We were flying to Utah to visit my grandma for the third July. Every year I prepared gifts for her birthday, but I sighed as I considered what to prepare this time. When we walked off the plane, I was relieved to see the smiling face of my grandma. We raced over to her.
“Hi, sweetheart.” Grandma went down on one knee to hug Jenny and then swung her in the air. Jenny screamed with laughter. Then Grandma hugged me. “It's also good to see you, Lora.”
After six hours of flight, I had a slight headache. I wanted to be alone, so I went outside to take a walk and search for a birthday gift. Wandering on the street, I happened to see a bakery. Suddenly, an idea occurred to me, “ Why not make a birthday cake by myself ” I was so excited that I immediately run into the bakery I told the baker my purpose and he permitted me to make a cake by myself.
I tried my best to make a perfect cake for my grandma's birthday. When I just finished, Mom called me for dinner. I went back home in a hurry and hit my cake in the bedroom. When I walked back into the room after dinner, my heart stopped. Jenny was lying on the bed, with a lot of cream on her face. Seeing me frozen into the doorway, she jumped from the bed. She ran over to me and said, “ The cream is so delicious!”
“Out!” I screamed angrily, and she ran out of the room. I ran over to the cake and the pattern on the cake was destroyed just as I’d feared.
注意:续写词数应为150词左右。
