Hi, I'm Sophia and I'm from Canada. Did you know that there are millions of different kinds of bugs (虫子) in the world To me they are just so great. There are more than 11,000 kinds of grasshoppers (蚱蜢) alone! My favourite kind is the pink grasshopper. They are so tiny and cute. Last year, I looked after a grasshopper that got hurt. I named it Hopper.
I used to get teased because I love bugs. Once at school I found a grasshopper and put it on my shoulder. An older kid from my class threw the grasshopper on the ground and stepped on (踩) it. Bugs are my best friends, and I don't like to see them die this way. I went home sad.
My mum wrote to some scientists who study bugs and asked for advice about how to encourage me to keep learning about them. One scientist asked me to help with a scientific paper! He asked me questions and listed me as co-author (合著者). It was a really, really good experience.

Tom and I arrived in Vietnam this afternoon. All the different sights and smells make us want to try everything — especially the food! We're looking forward to eating spring rolls and pho for dinner. Our hotel is cheap and very clean. We plan to stay here in Ho Chi Minh City for a few days and visit the temples (庙宇) in the city.
Posted on 27th March by Juliana
Ho Chi Minh City is fantastic! The temples are wonderful to look at. We also visited Cholon Market and everything there was so colourful. Later today we will take the train north. We'll stay in Hanoi for two days, and then catch a bus to Sapa.
Posted on 4th April by Juliana
Our trip to Sapa was long and tiring. Here we went hiking (远足) in the mountains for three days. The people who live here are called Hmong. They live a very simple life — no electricity or telephones. They are very friendly and everyone greets (问候) us with a smile. This afternoon, we're taking a walking tour in Hue.

In many south Asian cities, cars and motorbikes crowd the streets. Drivers beep their horns (按喇叭) before they hit the brakes (刹车). Traffic is a mess.
But the streets of Kathmandu have gone quiet. It is a ban (禁令) that has brought some silence to the streets.
Kathmandu is Nepal's capital city. Last April, the traffic police started fining (罚款) drivers who beep their horns. Drivers could still beep when necessary, but that was it. Any other beeping was banned.
Within weeks, the city streets grew quieter.
“In all of south Asia, this is one of the most successful efforts by the traffic police,” said a senior officer. “This is our pride.”
Kathmandu has almost no working traffic lights. Instead, 1,300 traffic officers direct traffic. The ban has not only cut down on noise, but also made the roads safer. Drivers are more careful now. They use their brakes instead of beeping. Even taxi drivers like the change. “It makes our boring job fun,” said driver Krishna Manandhar. “It was totally different before.”
The traffic officers are very proud of their success. They have started planning new efforts. They want to fix the city's streetlights. They want to make sure all school buses are painted yellow. They want to cut down on drunk driving. They want to have car-free zones (区域) in the city.
The beeping ban is now being tested in smaller cities. Nepal hopes to make the whole country horn-free one day.
1. The traffic in many south Asian cities is __________.
2. Kathmandu has become quiet because of __________.
3. Many traffic officers direct traffic in Kathmandu since there are almost __________ in the city.
