“The furthest distance in the world is not between life and death, but when I stand in front of you, your eyes turn to your smart phone.” It was rewritten from a beautiful poem by Amy Cheung. It shows that smart phone enlarges the distance between people in some degree. We can see many young people use their smart phones everywhere, such as in the underground, on buses, in restaurants and so on. They even use their smart phones when they are walking. They often use their smart phones to watch videos, chat with friends through social media(社交媒体), or play games when they are free. Smart phones have become an important part of people’s lives and the young people depend on them much more than they realize. They can’t live without smart phones. A person who spends too much time on the smart phone is called a phone addict(成瘾者). Phone addicts often snub the people around them because they just focus on their smart phones.
Spending too much time on smart phones is bad for young people in many ways. When young people spend too much time on phones, they don’t have enough time to communicate with their friends or parents face to face. It will damage their relationship. What’s more, phone addiction can also do harm to their study and health.
So it is high time to stop phone addiction. You can follow these suggestions. First, communicate with others face to face instead of talking with them through social media. Second, take part in activities which are good for your body and mind when you are free. What’s more, learn to look around and find the beauty of life when you have nothing to do, instead of depending on your phone all the time. Beauty is all around if you open your heart to feel.

Students these days often have a lot of worries. Sometimes they have problems with their schoolwork, and sometimes with their friends.___36___Some people think the worst thing is to do nothing. Laura Mills, a teenager from Washington, agrees. “Problems and worries are normal in life,” says Laura. “But I think talking to someone helps a lot. If we don’t talk to someone, we’ll certainly feel worse.”
Laura once lost her purse, and worried for days. She was afraid to tell her parents about it. She even walked three miles to school each day because she didn’t have any money. She just kept thinking. “If I tell my parents, they’ll be angry!” But in the end, she talked to her parents and they were really understanding. Her dad said he sometimes made careless mistakes himself. They got her a new purse and asked her to be more careful. “I will always remember to share my problems in the future!” Laura says.
Robert Hunt advises students about common problems. He feels the same way as Laura. “It is best not to avoid our problems. We should always try to solve (解决) them.” He thinks that you can first find someone to talk to. This person doesn’t need to be an expert (专家) like himself. Students often forget that their parents have more experience than them, and are always there to help them.
In English, we say that sharing a problem is like cutting it in half. So you’re halfway to solving a problem if you talk to someone about it!

Dear Peter,
Don’t worry about your study too much. First, you should learn to relax. I think doing some sports is good for you. Listening to music is also a good way to relax. And I think it’s necessary to have a healthy eating habit. Remember to have breakfast every morning. It can provide you with enough energy to learn for the whole morning. What’s more, you’d better not stay up too late so as to have enough sleep. It will help you remain active during the day. Finally, you can talk with your friends, parents or teachers often. Tell them about your thoughts. Try to get help from them.
I hope you will be full of energy and learn better.

In a small village, a little boy lived with his parents. He was the only son. He used to get angry very easily and hurt others with his words. His friends and neighbours avoided him, and his parents were really worried about him.
His parents advised him many times to control his anger(怒气) and be kind. Unluckily, it didn’t work. Finally, the boy’s father came up with an idea.
One day, his father gave him a huge bag of nails(钉子) and asked the boy to hit one nail on the board every time he became angry. The little boy found it interesting and accepted the task.
Every time he got angry, he ran to the board and hit a nail. His anger drove him to hit nails on the board 30 times on the first day! After the next few days, the boy hit fewer nails on the board. The little boy found it very difficult to hit the nails and decided to control his anger. Slowly, the number of nails hit on the board was reduced half.
One day, the boy didn’t hit any nails because he didn’t lose control at all that day. Then, his father told him to take a nail away from the board each time he controlled his anger. A few days passed and the boy was able to pull out most of the nails from the board. However, there remained a few nails that he could not pull out.
The father asked him, pointing to a hole, “What do you see here ”
The boy replied, “A hole in the board!”
The father told the boy, “The nails were your anger and they were hit on people. You can take the nails away but the holes in the board will remain. The board will never look the same.
