Unit3 Language in use
教材分析:
本模块共三个单元,第一单元通过选择俱乐部话题学习一些单词、短语和情态动词can 的用法。第二单元通过竞聘班委介绍自己能干的事情和推选的理由。第三单元总结巩固情态动词can的用法及其肯定、否定与疑问形式。本课是第三单元属于语言运用课,全面训练和培养学生听、说、读、写的水平。本模块以“询问和谈论彼此能力”为话题展开,学习内容和学生的生活息息相关,相信每个学生都会关心并且乐于参与讨论这一话题。教师以此为契机,营造宽松和谐的学习氛围,在教学过程中体现学生的主体地位,发挥教师的指导作用,以学生的活动为主线,注重话题、交际功能和语言结构三方面的结合,把知识的学习和技能的培养融为一体。
学情分析:
七年级学生已经有四年多的英语学习经验,对英语课堂简单的听说活动理解性较强,参与度较高。他们生性活泼好动,喜欢直观形象思维,对游戏、竞赛、画画等活动特别感兴趣,课堂很是活跃。同时本课的重点知识情态动词can也是孩子们小学就接触到的,大多数学生已经能正确使用,面对能力这一话题他们有话可说,乐于讨论并分享自己及同学的各种能力。对“制作俱乐部海报及书写俱乐部申请信” 等事件的英文表达,学生学习兴趣浓、热情高。教师可借助学生的这种求知欲,创设适当的语言情境,使学生能够积极地、正确的、反复的将目标语言应用到对话、写作等语言表达中去,让他们尝试成功的喜悦。
教学目标:
1.知识目标:
(1)能正确认读、拼写以下词汇:piano, tennis, club, monitor, ball, kite, game为听力、练习环节扫除障碍。
(2)能熟练掌握以下短语:play the piano, play table tennis, ride a bike, would like, speak Chinese, do cleaning, make our classroom beautiful, be good at,将其运用到对话和写作中。
(3)能正确运用以下句型,熟练表达自己和别人的能力。
I can play the piano.
She can dance really well.
We can teach you Chinese!
Can you cook
Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
(4)语法:掌握情态动词can表示能力的肯定、否定与疑问形式。
2.能力目标:
(1)能够正确使用can / can’t描述自己和别人的能力,进行班委采访。
(2)通过小组合作,完成俱乐部海报,并加以描述。
(3)能用英语展示自己的特长,并写一篇描述自己能力的文章。
3.情感目标:
能认识并肯定自己的能力,增强自信心,培养竞争意识和小组合作的意识。
教学重难点:
掌握单词短语,恰当使用情态动词can。
能恰当描述自己的能力,展示自己的特长,并以文章形式呈现。
教学过程:
I.Leading in
Lead in the lesson with a lovely toy snake and tell students: Little snake can do many things. It can speak English and sing a song. Students enjoy a song and answer snake’s questions: What can I do Can you tell me (You can sing and swim.) What can’t I do (You can’t dance or fly.) Lead in the title: What can you do
II.Presentation
1. Language practice
(1)Show students some pictures and ask them to finish the sentences in Language practice. (I can play the piano. She can dance really well. We can teach you Chinese! Can you cook Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.) Read and emphasize the modal verb can/can’t.
(2)Listening Practice: Consolidate the sentences in Language practice.
2. Practice
(1)Guessing game: Describe a student in the classroom, and ask other students to guess who he\she is. Little snake will give an example.
(2)Survey: Watch a video and learn how to do a survey. Then ask them to practice in groups of three. At last, ask one student to give a report to the class.
(3)Show them some pictures and do the pair-work.

III.Consolidation
Reading
Read a passage about Little snake and answer two questions:What does little snake want to be What can he do to be a class monitor Students go on to talk about other abilities of class monitor.
Interview
Little snake: Dear boys and girls, do you want to be monitors Your class is choosing monitors. There are five monitors: class monitor, art monitor, PE monitor, cleaning monitor and study monitor. Each group can choose one and talk about it. Students make an interview about the monitors.
IV.Extension
Making a poster
Tell the students that I need their help to set up five clubs. Ask each group to make a poster for each club and put them up on the blackboard. (The posters are also envelopes.)
Writing
Ask students to describe each club. Tell them: You have already known the clubs. If you want to join one, please write an application letter. Correct the letters with the help of projector.
Homework:1. Review the usage of can. Finish off exercise 3 and 4 in the book.
2. Finish off the letter.
