Reading 1
Last summer, Cathy’s whole family went to New York City for their summer holiday. They stayed there for two weeks. New York city has more than seven and a half million people . It is the largest city in the United States.
First they visited the Statue of Liberty. The Statue is the most famous historic site. Millions of people visit it every year. On the second day they went to the Empire State Building .

It is the tallest building in New York now. From the top of the building, they saw most parts of the city. On the third day they visited the Metropolitan Museum, In this museum, they saw a lot of famous paintings.
In the second week, the family visited Long Island. On the island, they spent most of their time swimming, sunbathing, and playing on the beach. They all had a good time.

The problem began when the flight was put off because of bad weather. They couldn’t leave until night. They finally got on the plane twelve hours later! But they couldn’t fly to Maldives because there was a storm. They had to fly to the capital city instead. There they stayed in a small hotel near the airport.

The hotel was next to the sea, but the sea was so dirty that they couldn’t swim in it. And the hotel swimming pool was full of leaves! The food was awful, too. For breakfast they only had bread and milk! The worst part was when the storm came, they felt really terrible. Because of the bad weather, they had to stay for another night in the small hotel. And they had nothing to do. It was so boring.

All of them look forward to coming there next time.
