Introduction
The 144-mile Icefields Parkway is one of Canada’s most scenic road trip routes (路线) and
is a must for visitors to Alberta. It has dozens of viewpoints where you can see glaciers, wa
terfalls, lakes, rivers forests, and valleys. The parkway starts in Jasper National Park, and

ceptionally high, but they run with a large amount of water, making them some of the most
impressive waterfalls in the Canadian Rockies.
Sunwapta Falls: Fed by the Athabasca Glacier, the Sunwapta Falls are divided into the
upper and lower sections. The upper waterfalls are easily accessible, but you need to hike a

Constantin de Slizewicz has been anxious to come back to China since early 2020. For the
past decade, the Frenchman has been running a luxurious ( campi ng business in Shan
gri-La in the southwest of China's Yunnan Province. But in December 2019, he went back to
France for a vacation. He usually goes back to France and stays there for two to three
months, since there is little business due to the weather.
Following the outbreak of COVID-19, however, he found it difficult to return. Fortu

Vegans are persons who don’t eat meat, fish, eggs, dairy, and other animal products
from their diet. The average parent who is not a vegan often is concerned when their child de
cides to become vegans, wanting their personal physician to talk their child out of it. Will
their child get enough nutrition ( 营养 ) being a vegan Don’t kids have to eat meat to get
enough protein (蛋白质) in their diet
Although not for everybody, a vegan diet does indeed have many health benefits, and if
well planned, it can be a healthy diet for kids. One shouldn't b e crazy when talking about pos
sible health benefits of being a vegan, though. Evidence doesn^ suggest that kids raised on a
vegan diet are sick less often than other kids. Not all vegetarian foods are healthy —some are
high in sugar, saturated fat (饱和脂肪) , or cholesterol (胆固醇).
The vegan diet is typically low in cholesterol and saturated fat and is high in fiber and
may lead to a lower risk of heart disease, high blood pressure and other diseases.
These health benefits led Dr. Benjamin Spock to recommend a strict vegan diet for all chil
dren over the age of 2 years which advised that children shouldn^ be given products made
from milk after they are two years old and that they can get plenty of protein and other nutri
tion from vegetables, beans, and other plant foods that avoid the fat and cholesterol that are
in animal products.
Dr. Spock’s advice created a lot of arguments. Itss not because experts questioned the

health benefits of a vegan diet, but they thought that parents might not take enough time and

A. Children over 2 years old shouldn’t eat animal products.
B. The vegan diet is widely accepted by most parents.

Changing to electric vehicles makes sense. Now it can make cents, too. France on
Wednesday announced a program to get high gas consumption old cars off the road by offering
a grant (补助金) to buy an electric bike.
A French driver can get $ 2,991 towards a new e~bike. The grant is high enough to buy
a quality e-bike. To receive the grant, the driver has to ensure their old car to be taken off the
road and scrapped (报废 ) Replacing the highly inefficient gas-powered vehicles will help
France meet its 2015 P a r i s A g re e m e n t goals to keep global warming below 2 °C. In 2018, 200
countries—including France —agreed to the P a r i s R u leb o o k that details the way countries can
relieve climate change and this includes limiting greenhouse gas emission (排放) . Other bene
fit to the programme is to get cars off crowded roads. After all, e-bikes take up far less room.
And cleaner air due to fewer pollutants is also a big plus.
A similar program was introduced in Norway. The project for the old car was actually-
spearheaded by the country's government. Drivers applied to receive a grant for up to $ 1,200
to buy a bicycle, e-bike, e-motorcycle, or even public transportation credits for turning in
【高一 英 语 第 6 页 ( 共 1 0 觅 )】 . 2 2— 0 2— 341A
their old vehicles. More than 8,500 people applied for the grant. Finland also has a similar
grant, which is used to help fund more than 1,000 low emission cars, 2,000 e~bikes, and 200
public transportation tickets. ‘‘ For thp first time it is recognized that the solution is not to
make cars greener, but simply to reduce their number, ” Olivier Schneider of the French Fed-
eration of Bicycle Users said.
Since the French grant is more than twice the amount of the Finnish and Norwegian ones,
it should be more successful. Getting a large number of high gas consumption off the road will
go a long way in helping to reduce emissions, traffic jam, and less pollution in the air.
32. Why does France give drivers a grant to buy electric bikes
A. To help repair old cars. B. To help electric bike sellers.
C. To make the economy better. D. To protect the environment.
33. What can we know from the second paragraph
A. Electric bikes are popular with the French.
B. Preventing global warming is difficult to achieve.
C. The French programme is not more costly than Norway.
D. France has announced the conditions of getting the grant.
34. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “ spearheaded” in paragraph 3
A. led B. added C. corrected D. discussed
35. What can we infer about the author from the text
A. He is an e-bike buyer. B. He is a novel writer.
C. He is a news reporter. D. He is a French driver.
