Wang Mei has a new pen pal. Her name is Jessica. She is from Africa. This is Wang Mei’s first e mail to her.
Dear Jessica,
Let me introduce myself. My name is Wang Mei. I’m twelve years old. I live with my mother and father. I have no brothers or sisters, but I have many friends. I am 1.6 metres tall.
I like to play chess. Last year, I won first place in my school. My favourite food is noodles. I can make noodles myself!
Do you study any other languages in school I am learning English now. I want to have some more English speaking friends. Learning English opens the world up to me.
In this e-mail, I am trying to use some new words. I will teach you some words in my language. Can you say, “Ni hao” That means, “Hello”. Try it!
Here is a picture of me. What do you look like Can you

Language Points
例句是以Let开头的祈使句, 句型为:
Let + 第一人称代词(me / us) + 动词原形 + 其他
Let + 第三人称代词(him / her / it / them)或名词 + 动词原形 + 其他
【例句】
Let me try again. 让我再试试。
Let her tell everyone. 让她去告诉大家。
Let型祈使句的否定形式为:
Let’s / Let us / Let me + not + 动词原形 + 其他
Don’t let + 第三人称代词的宾格或名词 + 动词原形 + 其他
【例句】
Let’s not say anything about it. 对于这件事咱们什么也不要说。
Don’t let him play with fire. 别让他玩火。
introduce v. 介绍
其常用结构有: introduce sb. / sth. to sb. 把某人 / 物介绍给某人; introduce oneself (to sb.) (向某人) 作自我介绍。
【例句】
I introduced my friend to the new teacher.
我把我的朋友介绍给了新老师。

no在例句中的意为“没有”, 其同义句为: I don’t have any brothers or sisters ...
辨析: no与not
no 作副词, 用来回答一般疑问句, 可单独使用。 — Do you have money 你有钱吗
— No. 没有。
not 只能与助动词、be动词或情态动词连用,表否定。 I do not have any water.
我没有水。

more adj. 更多的
数词 + more + 名词 = another + 数词 +名词, 意为“又 /再......”。
【例句】
I want two more apples.=I want another two apples.
我想再要两个苹果。

try v.& n. 尝试; 努力
【例句】
I will try my best to learn English well.
我会尽我最大的努力学好英语。
辨析: try to do, try doing和try one’s best to do
try to do 设法/努力去做 We will try to finish the work on time.
我们将努力按时完成工作。
try doing 尝试着做 Li Ming tried doing that experiment.
李明试着做了一下那个实验。
try one’s best to do 尽某人最大的努力做 She tried her best to make me happy.
她尽她最大的努力让我高兴。
5. I’m looking forward to your reply. (教材P76)
look forward to ... “期待(做)......; 盼望(做)......”, 其后跟名词、代词或v-ing形式, 不能跟动词原形。
【例句】
I look forward to seeing you. 我期待见到你。
