A
One day, while I was waiting for my father, I saw a little boy, running freely on the grass as his mother watched from a short distance. The boy had a big smile on his face as if he had just been set free from some sort of prison(监狱).The boy would then fall to the grass, without looking back at his mother, run as fast as he could, still with a smile on his face, as if nothing had happened.
At that moment, I thought to myself, “Why aren’t most adults this way ” Most adults, make a big deal out of it and don’t even make a second attempt(尝试). They would be so embarrassed that they would not try again if someone saw them fall. Or because they fail.
However, with kids, when they fall down, instead, they treat it as a learning experience. They try again and again until they succeed. The answer must be that they have not connected “again down” with the word “failure”. What’s more, they allow themselves to make mistakes, so they remain energetic.
16. What did the little boy do when he fell down
A. He cried and lay on the grass. B. He asked his mother for help.

D. Because they don’t allow themselves to make mistakes.
19. The underlined word “energetic” in Paragraph 3 means ________.
20. What does the writer want to tell us

As populations keep increasing in cities, city planners look under their feet for answers. With space in cities so limited, often the only choice for those who can afford to expand their property is to go underground.
One idea, which hasn’t been realized yet, is the ‘Earthscraper’ mentioned for Mexico City. This 65-storey inverted (倒置的) pyramid has been suggested as a way to provide office, shopping and living space without having to tear down the city’s historic buildings or break its 8-storey height requirement.
Many questions remain to be discussed, however, such as how you provide light, remove waste and protect people from fire or floods. Some of them have been answered with the construction (建设) of the Intercontinental Shanghai Wonderland hotel in China. This 336-room resort was built into the rock face of an 88m-deep, disused quarry (采石场) .
The island city-state of Singapore is also exploring its underground choices. Not only are its Jurong Rock Caverns being turned into an underground storage facility (装备) for the nation’s oil reserves, but there are also plans to build an ‘Underground Science City’ for 4,200 scientists to carry out research.
In New York, the Lowline Project is turning a disused subway station into a park. Expected to open in 2021, it uses a system of above-ground light-collection dishes to provide enough light to grow plants, trees and grass.
21. What’s the reason for people to explore the underground space
A. People who explore the underground space can afford to expand their property.
B. Scientists have new discoveries when they are exploring the underground space.
C. The population in cities is growing and the space in cities is too small to live in.

B. People should have enough living space in the city.
C. People can have buildings over the height of 65 storeys.
D. People should have buildings within the height requirement.
23. What does the word “them” refer to in Paragraph 3
A. questions B. light and waste C. people D. fire or floods
24. What can you infer from Paragraph 4
A. Singapore is building Jurong Rock Caverns and Underground Science City.

D. Jurong Rock Caverns is built to satisfy people’s shopping needs.

Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally about what to believe or what to do. According to a report on the World Economic Forum , critical thinking, creativity, and their practical application are widely accepted as the top three skills that young people need to have in their future career.
A good critical thinker usually takes the following steps before he decides what to do. Whenever he needs to do something, he would, first of all, reason. He checks why he needs to do it and whether he really needs to do it. Then, analyze. He tries to find out what it really is and the best way to do it. After that, evaluate. He makes sure whether he is able to do it and how to do it well. Finally, he makes the decision and takes action. Take the “Double 11” (a popular online shopping day in China) as an example. A few days before it, he checks carefully what he needs and whether he really needs them, and makes a shopping list. He goes to the online shops to compare the quality and the prices of the things that he is going to buy. He compares the shops that sell these things. Then he checks whether he can afford them and in which shops he is going to buy them. Although it takes him some time to make the decisions, he would not regret after the shopping.
Then what would happen if he didn't think critically before he made the decisions After the crazy “Double 11”, there were usually a lot of complaints on the Internet. There were regrets about buying more things than they needed. There were complaints about the poor quality and the prices of the things they bought. There were also complaints because they received wrong things or simply received nothing. There were all kinds of regrets and complaints. Why so They had not thought critically before they made the decisions.
Critical thinking helps you make wiser decisions. It helps you avoid wasting time, money and so on. Therefore, do look before you leap.
26. According to the passage, critical thinking is a thinking skill that .
A. helps make better decisions B. will appear in the future
C. helps make quick decisions D. makes us spend more money
27. In Paragraph 2, how does the critical thinker analyze the things he may buy
A. He checks what he needs to buy.

A. are not satisfied B. are not confident
C. are not interested D. are not responsible

B. Lucy’s parents became very angry when they knew her bad marks.
C. After looking at the other team's weak points, the coach made a new plan.
D. After hearing the stranger’s words, the girl followed him into a supermarket.
30. How many steps are mentioned before critical thinkers decide what to do
A.3. B.4. C.5. D.6.
D
Northeast China’s Liaoning Province is all ready, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to catch those trying to cheat. Reports say AI will analyze students from exam rooms and then warn monitors in the room, mostly teachers, to check if any student’s body movements suggest dishonesty. The monitors will have the final say on whether students were indeed cheating.
This is the best example of technology being used to help human work. Earlier, it was left to one or two teachers to monitor 30 students writing the test in one exam room. AI can do a better job, but since it cannot finally say if a student is cheating, it is for the monitor in the room to check and decide the result. Such a model can help avoid mistakes out of carelessness while making it fairer.
The conflicts between monitors and cheaters dates back to the time when exams were introduced for choosing talents. In exams held for public office many hundred years ago, cheaters were known to carry papers with them to the exam room for cheating. Monitors were then asked to search their bodies before they sat for the exams.
In recent years, some students sitting for the gaokao, which plays an important part in deciding which college they will successfully get into, have been known to use headphones connected to their telephones to get help from outside. In the early part of this century, machines screened all telephone signals coming from an exam center, so they can’t be received.
Ten years later, cameras were used to help in monitoring. Then came metal detectors to check what students were carrying to the exam room. And now, there’s AI.
The technology progress will help with exams and make it fairer and truer. It is time for students to work harder for a better score.
31.What’s the right order of how AI work to stop cheating
a. AI analyzes students’ body movements.
b. Teachers in the room check the student.
c. AI warns teachers in the exam room.
d. Teachers finally decide the result.
A.abcd B.acbd C.bcad D.cbad
32.The use of AI in exam is a good example to show that ________.
A.technology can make human’s work better and fairer
B.every province is all ready to catch those trying to cheat
C.students should work hard to develop science and technology
D.the conflicts between monitors and cheaters have lasted for long
33.Which of the following is true according to the passage
A.AI is used to stop students from cheating in the exam.
B.If a student is cheating, AI can tell and finally say the result.
C.AI was used when exams were introduced for choosing talents.
D.With the help of AI, there is no need to send monitors to the exam rooms.
34.The underlined word “screen” in Paragraph 4 probably means ________.
A.show B.protect C.monitor D.stop
35.Which of the following is the best title for the passage
A.Stop cheating, AI is watching B.How AI works to stop cheating
C.Time to work harder on your study D.The development of AI technology

由句子“We lose our 1 and heartaches(心痛) in dreams.” 由and后面的heartaches(心痛)可以推知前面的词语应该用sadness(悲伤)才符合语境。故选C。
when当……时;while (对比两件事物)而,然而;and和;or或者。句子中的Some dreams are broken与some come true之间存在着转折关系,因此应该选择while符合语境。故选B。
before在……以前;with和……在一起;without没有;after在…后。结合语境分析a young couple lost their baby是在事故(an accident)发生之后,因此应该选择after在……后。故选D。
he他;she她;they他们;it它。
根据“For a long time, they 5 that God had given them up.”
(They cried and kept themselves away from family and friends. They travelled far and wide, spending all their resources(资源), seeing different doctors.)
根据后面的句子“I truly love the world and trust God all the time.” 以及后面的句子“It was time to share my one dream with her.” 故选A。
but但是;because因为;so因此;though尽管。句子“I know there’s a reason for every season.”
根据“When I asked, she said, “I am fine. Nobody died. Just tired.””
根据后面的名词dream是单数,可以排除选项A/B;再由句子“You were in it. You were always looking after a child.”
根据上文的句子“For eight years, I always had a(n) 10 dream. You were in it. You were always looking after a child.”以及下文的句子“there was always a celebration happening... and you were in it, with your husband by your side.”可知,there was always a celebration happening... and you were in it, with your husband by your side.
根据“I also had to 12 her that she must never shake her faith ( 信仰).” 故选A。
根据“This winter, this man and wife are expecting their child.”
根据下文的句子“I do know one thing for sure: Dreams really do come true when you believe in your dreams, when you give God something to work with (doing your part), and when you believe in and trust God.” 故选A。

B. Scientists have new discoveries when they are exploring the underground space.
C. The population in cities is growing and the space in cities is too small to live in.
D. People explore the underground space because they want new places to live in.
22. Which is NOT the requirement of the buildings in Mexico
A. People cannot tear down the city’s historic buildings.
