Parents have different ideas about it . Let’s see what they think about it . Step III Reading Present new words and expressions . Let the students read the words according to the phonetic symbols on Page117 . Write out the Chinese meanings of the words :stress _______ waste _____ in order to ______ provide ______ anyway ________ depend _______ depend on _________ develop _________ fairness ___________ since ________ neighbor __________ ill ______ drop ____________ independence __________independent _________ take care of____________Skimming is an important reading strategy . This means looking quickly through a piece of writing to find the main idea without reading every word . It is also a good idea to read first sentence in each paragraph a little more carefully . Now skim the letters in 2b, and find out which one agrees and which one disagrees . Detail reading . Read the passage carefully . What are the Pros and Cons about kids doing chores Fill in the chart in 2c . Check the answers with the students and help them understand the passage . Step IV Language focus Try to find out the phrases listed in 2d in the letters , and make sure they can understand the meaning of each phrase . Make a sentence with each of these phrases .
