三、阅读理解(共20小题;每小题2分,满分40分)
第一节阅读下面短文,根据短文内容判断其后面所给句子的对错,并在答题卡上将所选的对应选项涂黑。选 Right 涂A,选Wrong涂B。
The rockets take astronauts and man-made satellites(卫星) into space. The satellites are used for communication, weather checking and research. But how do satellites stay up without falling down
There are two opposite forces influencing the satellite. One of them is the force of gravitation(地心引力)。 which tries to pull the satellite towards the earth and is like a rope which keeps the satellite from flying away. The other force is created by the turning of the satellite around the earth. This force tries to take the satellite away from the earth. With these two forces, the satellite goes round and round.
Everything that goes up has to come down. It is only a matter of time before a satellite comes back to the earth As time goes by, the satellite loses its speed, which makes the force pulling it towards the earth stronger than the force pulling it away. This makes the satellite fall down to the earth.
( )41. The satellites are used for communication, weather checking and research.
A. Right. B. Wrong.
( )42. Two same forces have an influence on the satellite.
A. Right. B. Wrong

As space science develops, humans have learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger.
Scientists have found out that radiation(辐射)is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. Some special medicine may work a little, but there’s no really helpful medicine.
Space junk is also thought to be great danger to spacemen, it’s reported that there are 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are man-made satellites, 10% are spaceships. and the rest are space junk An explosion(爆炸)in 1996 made a cloud of 300,000 fragments, each at least 4 mm in size, and even a small piece of these knocked against a spaceship window and did some damage. Scientists are working on helpful ways to do with space junk.
Although space is really dangerous, it interests everyone on the earth. In the near future, it may become usual for people to spend a few days in a space hotel. We may even choose to leave the earth and live in space for a few years. So we should care for space and do something to help improve the space environment.
( )51. ______is / are the most dangerous to spacemen.
A. Satellites B. Radiation C. Fragments D. Space junk
( )52. ________of man-made things in space are space junk.

C. tell us about the space environment and let us care for space

C
In many stories on TV and in science fiction, humans can travel to stars far away. But so far, people have only been able to get to the moon.
What if a person wants to get to a star far away It would take a lifetime to travel. People should have to move at least at the speed(速度)of light. But in fact, nothing can move faster than light.
Light travels more than 186,000 miles a second(秒) or about 1l million miles a minute. In one year, light travels about 6 trillion(6,000,000,000,000) miles. That great distance is called a light-year(光年). It is used to measure(测量)distance in space.
Strange things happen to an object(物体)when it moves very fast. If an object moves at 86% of the speed of light, it will be twice as heavy as it is at rest(静止). A stick appears shorter. A clock runs more slowly. A person would not age so fast in space as on the earth
Alpha Centauri(阿尔法人马座)is the closest star to the sun. It is over four light-years away. So if a human traveled at the speed of light, it would take him nine years to go to Alpha Centauri and come back.
( )56. About the speed of light, which of the following is true
A. Light travels about 1l million miles a second.
B. Light travels more than 186,000 miles a minute.

The sun is big enough to give off very strong light The moon can't give off any light at all, but it looks quite bright, too. Why In fact, the light from the moon comes from the sun. The moon looks much bigger and brighter than the stars. But actually(事实上)the stars are much bigger and brighter than the moon. 来自其他星系恒星的光经过很长一段时间才到达我们这里。They look smaller than the moon also because they are further away from the earth.
There are many other planets in the universe. But of all the planets, only on the earth there are living things and people can only live on the earth too. But at 9: 00 a. m. on October 15th,2003,Chinese pilot Yang Liwei was sent up to space. He stayed there for 21 hours. It was the first time for Chinese to get into space.
