Teaching material: Primary English For China Book 3 Unit 8 My family (B)
Teaching aims: Give simple descriptions of people.
Main Points: Give simple descriptions of people.
Difficult Points: Give simple descriptions of people.
Teaching aids: Word cards, PPT, pictures.
Teaching procedures:
I. Warm-up: sing a song: Head, shoulders, knees and toes.
II. Revision: 1. Free talk. 2.Ask some Ss to introduce themselves.
III. Presentation:
1. Play a game: “Polly says” to review the words: nose, mouth, ears, eyes
2. To teach the new word: hair
3. Play PPT to teach the phrases: big eyes/small eyes, big ears/small ears…
4. Show a boy on PPT, describe the boy, then teach the word “has”
5. Play DVD, the pupils listen to part B and repeat.
6. Group reading: Ask the pupils to read part B in groups of four, and let the students who can read to teach who can’t read.
IV. Practice:
1. Guessing game: Show 2 pictures of the pupils, describe a boy and a girl, let pupils guess who is he/she.
2. Show pupils some pictures of people, let the pupils give simple descriptions of them.
3. Reading game: Ask one presentation from each group to choose some sentences on PPT to read, if they can read them correctly, they can get one flower for their group.
4. Pair work: Ask the pupils to take out the pictures they’ve prepared, write simple descriptions of the pictures by using the sentence models given in the book, then show them to their partner.
5. Ask some pupils come to the front to show and describe their pictures to the rest of the class.
V. Summary: The whole class read the contents on the board. Tell the pupils that family means: father and mother I love you.
VI. Homework:
1. Play DVD, listen and repeat Unit 8 Part B at least 20 minutes and try to recite it.
2. Find some pictures of your family member and describe them.
