Unit 9 What does he look like
(Section A 1a-1c)
【Teaching objectives】
1. Students will be able to ask and describe people’s looks of height; build; and hair by speaking, listening, reading or even writing.
2. Students will be aware that different people have different looks. We can’t judge people by their looks and we should remember that a good fame is better than a good face.
【Teaching procedures】
Warming-up and Leading-in
Show students some descriptive sentences(height; build; hair). Ask them who’s the students in our class.( 设计意图:通过猜测班上的学生,导入本节描述人物的话题,并导入课题: What does he look like )
Presentation
1.Show students a picture of Yao Ming; Panchangjiang; and Zhaobenshan.Then present the new words: tall; short; of medium height.
(设计意图:采取直观教学的思路,通过图片呈现新词:tall; short; of medium height。)
2. Using some pictures of Xiaoxin to show students the words:heavy; thin; of medium build. After that, let students to describe their classmates.
(设计意图:利用蜡笔小新图片呈现新词:heavy; thin; of medium build, 并及时进行检测。)
Using the pictures of Lady Gaga to ask students to describe their hair.
(设计意图:利用图片及学生练习What does he/she look like He/She has...; 在句子中呈现及练习curly hair;straight hair; long hair; short hair; 通过与学生的简短对话练习描述发型。)
Practice
1. Show students some key words and then let students make some sentences using the key words and then ask students to guess which teacher she/he is.
2. After that, ask students to talk about their favorite teachers.
S1: Who is your favorite teacher
S2: My favorite teacher is...
S1: What does he/ she look like
S2: He/She is... He/She has...
(设计意图:利用关键词造句及猜词的游戏,强化be动词及have的选择与使用,并引导学生描述教师,最后学生自由讨论自己喜爱的教师,激发学生表达的积极性与主动性。)
T:Teachers are our good friends. Besides them, today we also have another new friend Amy. Look! This is Amy. His best friend is also in the picture can you guess which one is his best friend.
Listening
1. Listen to the tape and find out Amy’s friend.
2. Listen to the tape again and then fill in blanks.
(完成听力训练,在听力活动中巩固学生的目标语言的掌握。)
Post-listening
Describe at least 3 persons in the picture.
Summary and Homework
Use the blackboard design to summarize what we have learned today.
Then tell students that different people have different looks. We can’t judge people by their looks. A good fame is better than a good face.
Homework:
Refine your passage that writes about your best friend.
Try to describe your family members’ looks in English and then write it down.
