Step 4 Presentation 1. Teacher presents the picture of Martin Luther King Introduce some background information about him. Play two short videos about him. 2. Teacher presents some pictures of the World Trade Center and some shocking pictures of the 9-11 attack. Play two short video about the attack. Students watch and listen. Learn some important sentences as the teacher presents along. Watch and learn. Try to get enough background information about the two big events before you read the passage in details. Help the students to gain a whole image of the passage and understand the key sentences in the passage better.
Step 5 Activity 2b Play the speech cassette 2b. Get the students to listen and repeat. Teacher explains the passage and useful expressions. Students listen and repeat. Underline some useful expressions in the passage. (the rest of , in silence, has meaning to, at first, remember doing sth, …) Help the students to pay attention to the useful expressions in the passage.
