7. Silvano Lattanzi, the master of made-in-Italy shoemaking, was totally conquered by a painting hung in the entrance hall of the very modern Rich Gate, the luxury district in Shanghai. The painting, before which he knelt down to show his admiration, is the Rich Gate Rose painted by Liu Linghua, who's known as the "Chinese Van Gogh".
It was in May 2006 that Lattanzi first met Liu Linghua who was working on his 15-square-meter great piece. Lattanzi, from the country where Renaissance began, saw the painting accidentally and was immediately impressed by its beauty. He told others that he never imagined that western oil painting techniques could be developed so well by a Chinese and that this was the best painting he had ever seen.
In the eyes of westerners, Lattanzi is a great master of shoemaking, fashion and arts. His admiration for the Rich Gate Rose well shows the high level of Liu's painting. Ever since this, the two art masters of different nationalities, different ages and different cultural backgrounds have forged a profound friendship.
When Lattanzi came back to China six months later with the pair of shoes he made for Liu, he insisted on delivering the shoes to Liu himself. The two friends met again at the Rich Gate and Liu Linghua presented an embroidery(刺绣) of his master work The Drunken Beauty in return.
Liu expressed repeatedly that his works should be explained by painting and not the words of compliments. He does not care about the titles, though he is on par with the greatest painters. A leading light or a grand master of art, Liu pays little attention to it. Liu thinks actions are more important than words.
8. People have many different ways to relax during break time at work or school. Smartphones are probably the number one choice for a quick mental vacation. Looking at your cellphone may damage your mental power, according to a recent psychological study from Rutgers University in the United States.
For the study, more than 400 students were asked to finish a set of 20 word puzzles. The students were divided into three groups. One group was allowed to take a break and use cellphones to buy things online. The second group was asked to have a rest and buy things using a computer. The last group didn't take any break at all.
Interestingly, the group that used their cellphones during the break went back to work feeling the most tired and least motivated to continue. They also had the hardest time solving the remaining word puzzles. The cellphone group took 19 percent longer to finish the rest of the task, and solved 22 percent fewer problems than those in the other break conditions combined.
Terri Kurtzberg, co-author of the study, explained that they assumed looking at cellphones during a break would be no different from any other break—but instead, the phone may cause increasing levels of distraction that make it difficult to return focused attention to work tasks.
"Cellphones may have this effect because even just seeing your phone activates thoughts of checking messages, connecting with people, access to ever-refilling information and more, in ways that are different from how we use other screens like computers, and laptops," Kurtzberg told Science Daily.
So, during your next break, try putting your smartphone away. Go out for a walk, get to know your classmates or even take a nap. You may be surprised by the results!
1.What did the study find about using cellphones during breaks
A.It could affect one's relationships with others.
B.It could reduce one's ability to solve problems.

2.What can we learn about cellphones from Kurtzberg's words
A.They have become a necessary part of people's lives.

C.They may make it hard for people to concentrate on work.
D.They may influence people in the same way as computers do.
3.Why does looking at cellphones during a break cause increasing levels of distraction
A.Because it makes people sleepy.
B.Because it does harm to people's brains.
C.Because it activates thoughts of using cellphones.
D.Because it reminds people of their unhappy experiences.
4.What does the author suggest people do during break time
A.Turn off their cellphones. B.Keep their cellphones out of sight.
C.Keep their cellphones face down. D.Replace cellphones with laptops.
1.答案:1.at the same time; 2.was known for; 3.take hold of; 4.thinks of; 5.in practice
2.答案:This is a magazine to the interests of adults.
3.答案:When I looked through the window, I saw a girl, beauty took my breath away.
4.答案:As as I remember, there were few people in the village then after the enemy left.
5.答案: a dynasty's high point, the people have ample food and clothing.
6.答案:The drummer could not tolerate to what his boss said and left without a word.
A leading light or a grand master of art, Liu pays little attention to it." as good/important as可以表达“和……
D"He thinks the words can't well explain his works.
