There is an old saying in English: "Laughter is the best medicine." Until recently, few people took the saying very seriously. Now, however, doctors have begun to investigate laughter and the effects it has on the human body. They have found evidence that laughter really can improve people's health.
Tests were carried out to study the effects of laughter on the body. People watched funny films, while doctors checked their heart rate, blood pressure, breathing and muscles. It was found that laughter has similar effects to physical exercise. It increases blood pressure, the heart rate and the rate of breathing; it also works several groups of muscles in the face, the stomach, and even the feet. If laughter exercises the body, it must be beneficial.
Other tests have shown that laughter appears to be capable of reducing the effect of pain on the body. In one experiment doctors produced pain in groups of students who listened to different radio programs. The group, which tolerated the pain for the longest time, was the group, which listened to a funny program. The reason why laughter can reduce pain seems to be that it helps to produce endorphins(内啡肽) in the brain. These are natural chemicals that diminish both stress and pain.
There is also some evidence to suggest that laughter helps the body's immune(免疫的) system, that is, the system which fights infection. In an experiment, one group of students watched a funny video while another group served as the control group—in other words, a group with which to compare the first group. Doctors checked the blood of the students in both groups and found that the people in the group that watched the video had an increase in the activity of their blood cells, that is, the cells which fight infection.
As a result of these discoveries, some doctors and psychiatrists(精神病学家) in the United States now hold laughter clinics, in which they try to improve their patients' conditions by encouraging them to laugh. They have found that even if their patients do not really feel like laughing, making them smile is enough to produce beneficial effects similar to those caused by laughter.
1. What can we learn from the first paragraph
A. Laughter is good for one's health.
B. Laughter is related to some illness.
C. Laughter has been investigated long since.
D. Laughter has no effect on the body.
2. Doctors have found that laughter _____.
A. keeps down blood pressure B. has similar effects to physical exercise
C. decreases the heart rate D. increases stress
3. Which of the following statements of laughter is NOT true, according to the passage
A. It reduces pain. B. It exercises the body.
C. It improves the body's immune system. D. It can cure cancer.
4. What do doctors in a laughter clinic do
A. They laugh at their patients.
B. They encourage their patients to laugh.
C. They smile when they don't feel like laughing.
D. They never stop laughing.
C
The Diet Zone: A Dangerous Place
Diet Coke, diet Pepsi, diet pills, no-fat diet, vegetable diet…We are surrounded by the word "diet" everywhere we look and listen. We have so easily been attracted by the promise and potential of diet products that we have stopped thinking about what diet products are doing to us. We are paying for products that harm us psychologically and physically. Diet products significantly weaken us psychologically.
On one level, we are not allowing our brain to admit that our weight problems lie not in actually losing the weight, but in controlling the consumption of fatty, high-calorie and unhealthy foods. Diet products allow us to jump over the thinking stage and go straight for the scale(秤) instead. All we have to do is to swallow or recognize the word "diet" in food labels.
On another level, diet products have greater psychological effects. Every time we have a zero-calorie drink, we are telling ourselves without our awareness that we don't have to work to get results. Diet products make people believe that gain comes without pain, and that life can be without resistance and struggle.
The danger of diet products lies not only in the psychological effects they have on us, but also in the physical harm that they cause. Diet foods can indirectly harm our bodies because consuming them instead of healthy foods means we are preventing our bodies from having basic nutrients(营养成分). Diet foods and diet pills contain zero calorie only because the diet industry has created chemicals to produce these wonder products. Diet products may not be nutritional, and the chemicals that go into diet products are potentially dangerous.
Now that we are aware of the effects that diet products have on us, it is time to seriously think about buying them. Losing weight lies in the power of minds, not in the power of chemicals. Once we realize this, we will be much better able to resist diet products, and therefore prevent the psychological harm that comes from using them.
1. What can we learn from Paragraph 1
A. Diet products fail to bring out people's potential.
B. People have difficulty in choosing diet products.
C. Diet products are misleading people.
D. People are fed up with diet products.
2. What does the underlined phrase "gain comes without pain" in Paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Losing weight is effortless. B. It costs a lot to lose weight.
C. Diet products bring no pain. D. Diet products are free from calories.
3. Diet products indirectly harm people physically because such products _____.
A. are over-consumed B. lack basic nutrients
C. are short of chemicals D. provide too much energy
4. Which of the following shows the structure of the passage
CP: Central Point
P: Point
Sp: Sub-point(次要点)
C: Conclusion
A. B.
C. D.
D
"Our aim is to take our art to the world and make people understand what it is to move," said David Belle, the founder of parkour.
Do you love running It is a good exercise, yet many people find it boring. But what if making your morning jog a creative one Like jumping from walls and over gaps, and ground rolls Just like James Bond in the movie Casino Royale Bond jumps down from a roof to a windowsill and then runs several blocks over obstacles on the way. It is just because of Bond's wonderful performances that the sport has become popular worldwide.
Yes, that's parkour, an extreme street sport aimed at moving from one point to another as quickly as possible, getting over all the barriers in the path using only the abilities of the human body. Parkour is considered an extreme sport. As its participants dash around a city, they may jump over fences, run up walls and even move from rooftop to rooftop.
Parkour can be just as exciting and charming as it sounds, but its participants see parkour much more than that.
Overcoming all the obstacles on the course and in life is part of the philosophy behind parkour. This is the same as life. You must determine your destination, go straight Jump over all the barriers as if in parkour and never fall back in your life, to reach the destination successfully. A parkour lover said, "I love parkour because its philosophy has become my life, my way to do everything."
Another philosophy we've learnt from parkour is freedom. It can be done by anyone, at any time, anywhere in the world. It is a kind of expression of trust in yourself.
1. Why has Parkour become popular throughout the world
A. Because of its founder, David Belle.
B. Because of the varieties of participants.
C. Because of its risks and tricks.
D. Because of the film, Casino Royale.
2. What does the underlined word "obstacles" in Paragraph 2 probably mean
A. streets B. objects C. roofs D. barriers
3. Which of the following is the philosophy of parkour
A. Sports and extremes. B. Determination and freedom.
C. Dreams and success. D. Excitement and popularity.
4. Which of the following is true of parkour
A. It is a team sport. B. It is a good but boring sport.
C. It needs special training. D. It challenges human abilities.

We have all heard the expression: "Remember to stop and smell the roses." But, how often do we really take time out of our busy fast-paced lives to notice the world around us I have reflected back on one situation many times since it happened and have learned several powerful lessons from it.
I am as guilty as anyone of ignoring the world around in this manner, especially when I am driving on California's overcrowded streets. A short time ago, however, I witnessed an event that showed me how being wrapped up in my own little world has kept me from being fully aware of the bigger world picture around me.
I was driving to a business appointment and, as usual, I was planning in my mind what I was going to say. I came to a very busy crossroads where the stop light had just turned red. "All right," I thought to myself, "I can beat the next light if I race ahead of the pack." My mind and car were in autopilot, ready to go when suddenly my absent-minded state was broken by an unforgettable sight.
A young couple, both blind, was walking arm-in-arm across this busy crossroads with cars whizzing by in every direction. The man was holding the hand of a little boy, while the woman was holding something tightly in her hands that slung to her chest, obviously carrying a child. Each of them had a white walking stick extended, searching for clues to navigate them across the crossroads.
Initially I was moved. They were overcoming what I felt was one of the most feared handicaps—blindness. "Wouldn't it be terrible to be blind " I thought. Without realizing the danger they were in, they were walking right the path of oncoming cars. I was frightened for them because I didn't know if the other drivers understood what was happening.
However, as I watched from the front line of traffic, I saw a miracle unfold before my eyes.
Every car in every direction did the same thing. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Never noticing something different, the couple adjusted their route as they followed the coaching. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
A
由第二段中的"while also restoring skin that is quite dry, sensitive, or gets itchy(发痒的) or harmed"可知,Pain Relieving Foot Cream也可以修复非常干燥、敏感或发痒或者受损的皮肤。故选A。
Receive a free bottle when you order three"可知,Muscle Cramp Pain Reliever买三赠一;由第二段中的"Get a free jar when you order above two"可知,购买Pain Relieving Foot Cream超过两罐就可以免费得到一罐;由第三段中的"Get a free jar when you order three"可知,Leg & Back Pain Relief Cream买三赠一。
根据第一段中的“They have found evidence that laughter really can improve people's health.”
根据第二段中的“It was found that laughter has similar effects to physical exercise.”
文章提到了笑和体育锻炼的效果相似,排除B项;由第三段中的“Other tests have shown that laughter appears to be capable of reducing the effect of pain on the body.(其他试验表明,笑似乎能够减轻疼痛对身体的影响)”可知,排除A项;由第四段中的“There is also some evidence to suggest that laughter helps the body's immune system...(还有一些证据表明,笑能够改善人体的免疫系统)”可知,排除C项。
根据最后一段中的“As a result of these discoveries...”
故选A。
根据第二段中的“It is just because of Bond's wonderful performances that the sport has become popular worldwide.”
“over obstacles on the way”与“getting over all the barriers in the path”意思一致,指跨越路上的障碍。
根据第五段中的“You must determine your destination, go straight, jump over all the barriers…” 由第六段中的“Another philosophy we've learnt from parkour is freedom.”
根据第三段中的“Parkour is considered an extreme sport.”和第四段中的“Parkour can be just as exciting and charming as it sounds...”
解析:①空前的“Yoga can be practiced by people of all ages and levels of fitness.” 故选A。
②根据空前的“They worked together using an ancient Sanskrit text called Yoga Korunta to create a set routine of yoga movements and breathing exercises.”
③根据空后的“In other forms of yoga, however, the routine can change each time and the stretching exercises aren't aerobic.”中的however可知,前后为转折关系,该句中的the routine can change each time与E项“Every time...does exactly the same movements.”
C项“Whatever kind of yoga you choose, there are many long-term benefits.(无论你选择哪种瑜伽,都会有长期的益处)”符合语境,故选C。

Dear David,
I have learned from your email that you want to try smoking as you think it is very cool. As far as I can see, smoking is a bad habit.
It is widely believed that smoking has harmful effects on one's body. It can do terrible damage to your heart, and even cause cancer. Additionally, cigarette smoking will affect the health of your family members. What's worse, you will find it hard to give up once you are addicted to cigarette smoking.
I suggest you live a healthy and active life. You'd better often take part in sports to build you up and develop some healthy hobbies to enjoy life.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
第二节
答案:
Every car in every direction did the same thing. They stopped at the same time. Everything seemed to freeze. Amazed, I looked at the cars around me, and noticed that everyone's attention was fixed on the blind couple while no one got mad and none was shouting and yelling.
Never noticing something different, the couple adjusted their route as they followed the coaching. Trusting their white walking stick, they finally made it. As they went across the road, one thing struck me—they were still arm-in-arm. I was surprised at the emotionless expressions on their faces and judged that they had no idea what was really going on around them. Yet I immediately sensed the sighs of relief of all the other drivers at that busy crossroads. So, taking a moment to see what is going on around you right now may award you something wonderful.
