能力目标 1. 能读懂文本人物在暴风雨来临时正在做的事。 2. 能结合语境,理解过去进行时表示过去某一时间段或时间点正在做某事。 3. 能够学会运用思维导图方式,利用关键词对文本进行梳理和记忆。 4. 学会使用时间顺序来描述事件。
情感目标 能理解并描述他人最难忘的事,学会运用过去进行时表达自己最难忘的事情。
教学重点 阅读中把握“暴风雨前-暴风雨中-暴风雨后”的时间顺序结构,理解过去进行时表达过去某一时间段或一时间点正在做某事的概念。
教学难点 过去进行时的概念,when和while的用法。

Warming-up 4’ 1. Greetings. 2. Play a game to review the words in last class. Get Ss ready for class, and a game helps to grasp Ss’ interest in class. Let Ss know what they are going to do in this class by presenting the objectives.
Pre-reading 2’ 1. Brainstorming: Ask Ss to brainstorm the definition of the word “rainstorm”. 2. Predicting: Ask Ss to predict what the passage is about through the titile and the picture. Grasp Ss’ intention and develop their predicting abilities.
While-reading 25’ Reading Task 1 Read the passage while teacher plays the recording and then answer the two questions. 1. Where did the storm happen 2. What is the main idea of the passage Practice Ss’ reading and listening abilities.
Reading Task 2 Skim and scan for the main idea 1. What is the order of the passage 2. What is the main idea for each passage Match them. Get Ss to practice the reading skills (skim and scan) for getting the main idea.
Reading Task 3 Careful reading for specical information (work on questions and 3b on PPT) Get Ss to practice the reading skill (careful reading) for specific information.
Post-reading 6’ 1. Retelling based on the mind mapping with the key words. 2. Get Ss to discuss the questions on 3c with their partners first, and then share with the class. Get Ss to learn to do mind mapping with key words, and retelling gives a chance for Ss to practice speaking English.
Self-check 2’ Ask Ss to check Excellent, Good, OK, Try hard in the self-check box on PPT. Give Ss a way to check if they do it well in class.
Homework 1’ 1. Retell the story to your partner. 2. If you were Ben, tell us your story. 3. Preview the Grammar Focus. Provide a chance to practice English after class and exchange their roles to retell the stories in another way.
