Share your good way to learn English and learn from other’s good methods.
Teaching difficult points：
Express some good learning English methods in English.
Warming—up:
Review the song we have learnt in Lesson44.
Key steps:
Step1. lead-in: Ask some questions to students:
Do you like English?
Are you good at English?
Do you want to move to Canada?
If you move to Canada, what difficulties will you meet?
Step2, Look at the picture of Teresa in student book. Explain to the students that she is a girl from Hong Kong, who now lives in Canada.
Ask students to read the passage and answer the following questions:
1. What is her favorite way to learn English?
2. What is hard about learning English to her?
3. What does Teresa do when she doesn’t understand a word?
Check the answers.
Step3, Ask students to read the passage and discuss the following questions in small groups:
What methods does Teresa use to learn English?
Check the answers.
Step4, Ask students to read the passage again and underline
1): The phrases we have learnt before.
2): The words and sentences that you can’t understand.
Step5, Explain important and difficult points.
1. Review some phrases that they have learnt before.
teach sb. sth. = teach sth. to sb. “教某人某事”
stop doing sth. 停止做某事 stop to do sth. 停下来去做
how to do sth .如何做某事 特殊疑问词+动词不定式作宾语。
help sb.( to) do sth. 帮助某人做某事
speak English 说英语
2. Learn some new phrases:
1). look up “向上看，了解，（在字典中）查寻，查找” 与代词连用时，要把代词放在中间；与名词连用时，名词既可以放在中间也可以放在后面。如：look it up , look them up
look the word up = look up the word
2).She never stops trying. = She keeps trying. = She never gives up.
a, stop doing sth. = give up doing sth.
e.g. The boy stopped playing the computer games.
= The boy gave up playing the computer games.
b, keep doing sth.反复做某事，继续做某事，不停的做某事
e.g. I keep reading English every morning.
Step6, Practice.
Step7，Let students talk about what they have learnt in this lesson.
Step8, If time permits, Let students discuss their methods of learning English in small groups. Then ask some students to speak in class.
Homework:
Write a short passage to talk about your methods for learning English.
