“We have helped improve the environment by recycling. We have supported education by providing scholarships for kids. And we have brought communities together. We also try to encourage people to choose the lifestyle of recycling,” said Genshu. Over the past few years, he has brought in support from local companies and schools. This allows him to set up some depots (仓库) for the things that he has collected.

This doesn’t mean the librarian is doing nothing. ___▲___ She keeps an eye on WeChat while checking QQ for new messages, as well as being ready to answer the phone that might ring at any time. All calls and messages come from visually impaired (有视觉障碍的) people or their families.

Having been a member of the BLC for about 10 years, Cheng has borrowed Braille books since primary school. “Now, I am preparing for the 2022 college entrance exam and I want to learn traditional Chinese medicine in university,” he says.

Fashion designers are always looking for new materials to work with. Lately, a shoe company called Thaely is making shoes out of plastic bags. “Thaely” means “plastic bag” in the Hindi language.
“I was looking forward to creating footwear that was both cheap for customers and safe for the environment,” Ashay Bhave, the founder of Thaely, said in an interview. “I needed to come up with something that used recycled plastic without creating any more plastic waste.”
Plastic bags were the perfect solution. Bhave’s home country, India, has stopped people from using single-use plastics. However, some people still use them. “About five trillion (万亿) plastic bags are used around the world each year. I was motivated (激励) to find a solution to this problem.”
That solution was the material called ThaelyTex. It’s made from plastic bags, and it looks and feels like leather. Better yet, the production process requires no chemicals and makes no toxic (有毒的) by-products. The end result is a smart-looking pair of white sports shoes.
Bhave said that each pair of shoes was made from up to 15 plastic bags and up to 22 plastic bottles. Where did they get so many materials Bhave said that was the hardest part.“The biggest challenge we faced was right at the first step of getting the plastic bags.
Finally, they got help from TrioTap Technologies, a waste management factory. Bhave said they offered to collect plastic bags and also to process them into ThaelyTex.
So far, it seems like things are going smoothly. There are already hundreds of orders in place. It sounds like they have some plans for the future. “We have a few more colours coming up,” said Bhave. They also plan to produce a new model and introduce a line of clothing. Let’s hope their growth is also sustainable(可持续的).

Food is important to all of us. However, lots of food is wasted every year, especially at home. Here, I’d like to introduce some methods of reducing food waste in my family.
First of all, my parents usually make a plan before going shopping, which can prevent us from buying too much food. As we all know, some food can go bad easily. So my mother always puts it in the fridge as soon as possible. In this way, it will keep fresh. If there are leftovers, we will use them up in time before they turn bad. With those remaining ingredients, my father can create a new delicious dish. Moreover, my family avoid food waste by eating up all the food on our plates and in our bowls.
Nobody likes wasting food, but nearly everyone does it. It’s our duty to pay attention to food waste and take action to deal with it.
