教材分析 本话题属于较基础的日常话题,在外研版教材中出现的频率较高,如七上Module 8 Choosing presents, 八下 Module 9 Friendship, 九上 Module 6 Problems, 九下 Module 8 My future life。
学情分析 学生对于本话题较感兴趣,也有一定的知识储备。首先,他们能描述基本人物信息,但对于多角度描述一个人需要一定的指引;其次,对于这一话题的口头表达他们较为流畅,所以可以在口头表达的要求上增设难度;最后,可以由阅读篇章引发他们的思考,完成一篇仿照中考写作要求的中等难度的作文。

Step1 Lead-in Students listen to a song “shining friends” and share their feelings about the song. A song can activate students’ interest at the very beginning of the class. Besides, the theme is related to friendship, so it will lead in the topic naturally.
Step 2 Free talk Students talk about these two questions: 1.When talking about good friends, who comes to your mind first 2. What are they like ” Questions about daily topics can involve students into heated discussion and they will freely talk about the descriptions of people.
Step 3 Guessing game The teacher gives the descriptions of a person, and students guess who he/she is according to them. Students give descriptions about a classmate and let others guess who he/she is. (After the game, students will conclude the 4 aspects of introducing a person: appearance, personality, hobbies, and jobs) Students will observe the sentences of describing people carefully while guessing, and they will be able to use the pattern to describe someone themselves.
Step 4 Vocabulary input Students play “Sharp eyes” games to consolidate the words and expressions related to the topic, enjoy videos about The vocabulary input can help lay a foundation for the later
jobs and hobbies, then fill in the blanks to put the vocabulary into practice. (Eg: An engineer designs and builds machines.) discussion about job and career as well as the reading tasks.
Step 5 Match-reading task (Teacher: Set Qian Xuesen as an example. “My career is in China, my success is in China.” Conclusion: Job is for payment and career is about personal dream for a long time. To some degree, Career means your dream job.) Students read five students’ dream descriptions and match them with seven successful people for them to learn from. The match-reading task can guide students to think about the deeper meaning beneath the verbal description about people’s job and dreams.
Step 6 Reading (Teacher: What is Yuan Longping’s dream ) Read a passage about Yuan Longping and answer five questions about it, and then ask students to summarize the tips of dealing with the questions. (These questions belong to different categories, such as detail questions, word-guessing questions and main idea questions.) Eg: This reading task is a little more difficult than the previous one, and it includes the frequently tested question types in exams. Students can reflex on their thinking process as they summarize the tips.
Step 7 Post-reading Think: Q1:What makes Yuan so famous and successful Q2:What can you learn from him (Find the clues in the text) Group work: To interview one of your classmates, and then introduce him/her to us. On June 27, 2019,Yuan Longping attended the first China-Africa Economic
and Trade Expo which is held in Changsha, Hunan. He gave a speech in English. He said that China is working on researching the super hybrid rice and wants to help other countries deal with the problem of food shortage.

However, Yuan didn't stop his research. He led his team to conduct a successful experiment in planting rice in the Dubai Desert. This is the first time that rice has been grown in a desert.
