语篇一
I once read a line in a poem that went, “Love everyone as your own”. I related because I grew up with a big American family. And neighbors were in and out of each others homes at any given hour of any day for years! Everybody was family. Italian and French mixed with English, and we got along with each other very well.
I later learned Spanish while living in New York City and married a Japanese, who could speak conversational English! One day my husband received word that a dear friend, who he hadn't seen in many years, was visiting our city and we happily planned to meet. When we finally met, I discovered that his friend had been in South America for many years and spoke only Japanese and Spanish. So he spoke to me in Spanish and to my husband in Japanese; I spoke to him in Spanish and to my husband in English; and my husband spoke to me in English and to his friend in Japanese. We did this for about an hour! Sweet fun!
That amazing experience many years ago teaches me to learn other types of language, and to understand other people who I don't “get”. The language of someone whose experience takes a man, a woman, or a child down a road very different from mine. To understand this language requires a willingness to listen and learn. Hopefully, when several different roads meet, we will be able to enjoy the richness of each other, and “love everyone as our own”!

A blind woman in Beijing was getting on a bus with her guide dog when she was stopped by the conductor(售票员) who said no dogs were allowed on the bus. With the help of other passengers, Zhou Lei finally got on the bus, but during the journey the conductor kept saying that she shouldn't bring a dog.
In fact, it hasn't been explicitly regulated(明确规定)that a guide dog is allowed on a bus in Beijing. But not all cities treat guide dogs the same way. In East China's Jiangsu province, guide dogs are allowed on public transport. To allow guide dogs is to respect(尊重)people who are blind.
There are lots of blind people in China, but we can't see them. Why The answer is self-evident. When the blind are not allowed to take their guide dogs on public transport, how can they go out When discrimination(歧视)against them is still there, how can blind people feel they are a party of our society
No wonder few blind people can be seen in the streets. What's more, sidewalks for the blind are often obstructed (阻塞) and guide dogs are not allowed to enter public spaces. Blind people should be freed from their homes so that they can play a part in doing something for our society.
( )2.What can we know from the first paragraph
A.Zhou Lei didn't get on the bus with her guide dog.
B.The conductor kept laughing at Zhou Lei and her guide dog.

Mrs Read is my elderly neighbor. One day, I went to help her move some furniture as she was getting some kitchen renovations(翻新)done. We packed up her things and cleaned the kitchen. She then asked me if I wanted her old dining table and a two-door-free standing cupboard. I said those furniture were really wonderful, but I didn't have any space at home for them.
Later on, I suggested that if she didn't want them I could advertise them online for her, so I did. In fact, she didn't want any payment for the things, she only hoped that people who need the furniture could come and move them out themselves and organize their own transport. At the same time, she was worried about being alone with strangers, so I said I'd give the people my phone number, get them to text first, and I'd go over to her house and be there when they took the furniture away. Mrs Read seemed glad to my advice and agreed happily.
One man collected the cupboard and had a beautiful story about setting up homes for refugees(难民), I'm not entirely sure I believe him, but anyway that's his business to deal with. The dining table ended up being annoying(令人懊恼的)as a person said they would pick it up, so I went to my neighbors and waited and phoned him, but in the end, he said he had changed his mind!
My neighbor then phoned a charity organization and they were glad to come and move away the table and chairs. So it all worked out perfectly.
My husband asked why I spent so long helping--taking photos, doing the advertisements online, answering phone calls, going around to the house and I said it was helping someone to do something I found easy, but she found really difficult.
( )3.What can we learn from the first paragraph
A.Mrs Read wanted to sell some of her old furniture. B.Mrs Read wanted to sell all her furniture in the kitchen.
C.Mrs Read was in short of money at that time. D.Mrs Read wanted to give away some of her old furniture.

“Was it your father who paid for your school fees ” The director asked.
“My father passed away when I was one year old, so it was my mother who paid for my school fees”.
“What was your mother ” The young man answered, “My mother worked as a clothes cleaner.” The director asked the man to show his hands. He showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
“Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before ” Asked the director.
“Never. My mother always wanted me to study and read more books.”
The director said, “OK. When you go back today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.”
When he went back, he asked his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange but happy. With mixed feelings, she showed her hands to her son. The man cleaned them slowly. His tears fell as he did that. It was the first time that he noticed his mother’s hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises(擦伤) in her hands. It was the first time that he realized this pair of hands washed the clothes every day to enable him to pay the school fee. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his graduation and his future. After finishing the cleaning of his mother's hands, the young man quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother. At that night, they talked for a very long time. Next morning, the man went to the director's office.

Will you remember the name of a stranger for 43 years Of course most people will not. I have truly forgotten the name of an old lady who was a customer when I was selling newspaper at a young age. Yet it seems like just yesterday that she taught me a lesson in forgiveness that I can only hope to pass on to someone else someday.
On a boring Saturday afternoon, a friend and I were throwing rocks onto the roof of the old lady's house from a corner in her backyard. I found myself a perfectly smooth rock and sent it for a ride. The stone was too smooth, however, so it slipped(滑过)from my hand as I let it go and headed straight for a small window on the old lady's back porch(门廊).
We ran away from the old lady's yard as fast as we can. I was so scared about getting caught that night. I tried to avoid thinking about the old lady with the broken porch window. However, a few days later, I started to feel guilty (内疚的)for her misfortune. She still greeted me with a smile each day when I gave her the paper, but I was no longer able to act comfortably in front of her. I made up my mind that I would save my paper delivery money, and in three weeks I had seven dollars so that I thought I would cover the cost of her window. I put the money in an envelope with a note explaining everything.
I waited until it was dark, walked up to the old lady's house, and put the envelope through the letter slot(槽)in her door. Once again, I could have the freedom of looking straight into the old lady's kind eyes.
The next day, I handed the old lady her paper and was able to return the warm smile that I was receiving from her. She thanked me for the paper and gave me a bag of cookies she had made herself.
Reaching for the cookies, I felt an envelope and pulled it out of the bag. When I opened the envelope,I was surprised. Inside were the seven dollars and a short note that said, “I'm proud of you!”

My birthday present from my children came in the mail a little early this year. I opened it. It was a new record player to play my old records on. I set it up in my bedroom. It looked like a black briefcase(公文包)but it had speakers built into the sides. And when I opened it up there was a turntable(唱机转盘)ready to go. I ran over to the collection that I had kept since childhood and pulled out a 35-year-old record. I took it out of its old box and placed it gently on the turntable. I pushed on the power button. Then suddenly the sweet sound of music flowed from the record player into my ears and down to my soul. It was one of those moments of joy that made life so wonderful.
I closed my eyes and followed the sound. In my mind I was fourteen years old again, singing and dancing to the music in my Mom's living room.
I opened my eyes again and smiled. My old pet dog was afraid that I might start singing soon. It turned and ran out of the door. My young pet dog, however, jumped around my feet and barked(犬吠)happily while I danced with joy to the sweet sounds coming from my birthday present.
I have been so lucky because there are so many sweet sounds in this life.I have heard the first birds singing in the spring. I have heard the wind blowing through the trees. I have heard my newborn babies' first cries. I have heard children laughing and playing.I have heard the wonderful words, “I love you.” I have heard beautiful music. I hope to keep adding the sounds of my own love, laughter, kindness and joy to this beautiful world too.

The widespread use of Internet technology has made our lives easier but causes a big challenge to senior citizens (年长者), who are not always comfortable with smartphones and so many new apps.
Only a few senior citizens are able to enjoy the advantages that new technologies offer. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the number of people aged 60 and above was 255 million in 2020, about 17.9%of China's population. But only 23%of them were able to use the Internet. That means more than three-fourths of the senior citizens are not able to enjoy the digital(数字的)advantages.
Many senior citizens who can't use smartphones are facing difficulties during this pandemic(疫情). Even with a smartphone in hand and the Internet, many of them still feel helpless. They don't know how to call a taxi through the apps. It is reported that many shops refused to serve elders who don't know how to pay by smartphones, instead of letting them pay in cash(现金). Worse still, as they don't know how to get the Internet- based health code(健康码), they are refused to enter many public places.
New technologies become popular because they are often of great use in our daily lives. But many senior citizens, especially those who live in the countryside or those whose grown-up children don't live with them, are not able to use the Internet or smartphones. There are different reasons for this. Some senior citizens can't afford smartphones. Others may feel it difficult to learn new things like using smartphones. The digital gap(差距) between the elderly and the young is becoming bigger.
However, the elderly should not become a silent group who are kept away from new technologies. It is our responsibility to help them bridge the digital gap,and be patient with them when they face difficulties catching up.
( )9.What can we learn from the passage
A.Most elders need help in how to use the apps. B.It's a must for everyone to have a smartphone.
C.Cash is no longer accepted in the shops in China. D.Many shops refuse to offer service to senior citizens.

Stephen Ritz was a teacher at a school in New York, the USA. Somebody had sent him a,box of flower bulbs(球茎). He didn't really know what they were, so he put them in a comer of his classroom. Then one morning, he and his students were surprised to see beautiful flowers in the corner.
That gave Stephen an idea. He and his students worked on a project in their own neighborhood. They planted flowers and vegetables everywhere they could. The students even created an “edible(可食用的)indoor wall” in the science room.
Although all the students under 16 must attend school in Stephen's school, students often missed classes. Thanks to his project, attendance(出数人数)in Stephen's classes went up from around 40% to 93%. The students realized they had to look after flowers and vegetables every day, so they didn't miss school.
The students also began to learn about healthy food. As they started to grow their own vegetables, they became more interested in eating a healthy diet instead of fast food. In fact, the “edible indoor wall” produced enough food to feed healthy meals to hundreds of students!
Many of Stephen's students had a special education need or were homeless. Stephen's project really affected them. They learned that they don't have to be a farmer in the country side to grow plants. Anybody can do it. They also learned some lessons that would help them throughout their lives.
( )10.What can we know from the passage

While mothers look forward to Mother's Day, sellers expect the holiday even more. That's because the money spent on meals, flowers, and other presents adds up to billions of dollars, and the spending keeps increasing year after year.
Not surprisingly, gifts like rings and necklaces top the list with a $4.6 billion. Trips come in second of $4.4 billion. $2.6 billion will go towards buying flowers. Others include clothing($2.1billion), electronics ($2.1 billion), and personal services.
Though motherhood has been celebrated across the world for centuries, this official(官方的)US holiday started because of the hard work of Anna Jarvis. She came up with the idea in 1905 to honor moms for the hard work they do for their families. The first celebration in 1908 at a Methodist church in Grafton, West Virginia, was such a success that Jarvis made up her mind to make the holiday a national holiday. To achieve her goal, she started a writing campaign(运动)to newspapers and lawmakers about the importance of a special day to honor mothers. While many states, towns, and churches had accepted the holiday by 1912, it took another two years for President Woodrow Wilson to set the second Sunday in May as official Mother's Day.
However, soon after the holiday became official, sellers got the opportunity to market their products. Jarvis was not pleased with this. So she spent years speaking out and fighting against the “profiteers(投机商)”
While Mother's Day has become increasingly commercial(商业的), most moms would choose spending time with their families and a break from daily chores over going to expensive stores to buy things. So on Mother's Day this year, do something thoughtful like making break fast or doing laundry, and more importantly, spend time with your mom and give her a hug!
( )11.We can infer from the last paragraph that most moms________.
A.prefer cooking at home to eating outside B.expect surprising gifts from their children
C.consider daily housework really great pleasure D.consider Mother's Day a chance to stay with families

Rushing along the crowded streets. Dad was caught in a sea of people walking out of their offices to make the journey home, He'd remembered to buy the firecrackers(鞭炮)and was looking forward to setting them off after the meal.
Before long, we were sharing the wonderful food. Every thing had a meaning from the long noodles for a long life to the dumplings for good luck. It all tasted delicious.
The evening of celebrations came to an end at midnight with Dad lighting the firecrackers outside the house to keep bad luck away.
The best thing about the Spring Festival is that we celebrate it for two weeks! So the next day, we travelled into town to see the dragon parade(龙游)and meet more friends
On the 15th day, it was time to celebrate the Lantern Festival. We watched in amazement as thousands of lanterns were sent into the sky to be a symbol of the longer days of spring and the light of the full moon. You and I can tell one face from another, but can computers do the same with few mistakes At an earlier time, many people thought it was impossible, but now, the development of technology has made it come true.
New technology like facial recognition(脸部识别)technology helps to make our lives more convenient in many ways. People can easily come into their office buildings and check e-malls by using it. It can also help the police to find missing kids and bad people by sending the pictures taken from video cameras on the streets to the facial recognition system(系统)More and more shoppers use their e-wallets with the new technology to pay for things they buy in the shopping malls and many kinds of stores.
In the fall of 2017, Apple even used this technology to open the smartphone in no more than one second. However, what is facial recognition technology and how does the system make it
First, facial recognition technology checks the space between eyes, the eye color, the ear size and the lip thickness(嘴唇的厚度)Then the system makes a record of your face and saves it in the database(数据库). That is to say, if you want to get the right to go into some places or to do something, you just look at the camera and let your picture run through the database. Once the system checks your face and finds that it is correct, you can then get the right to go into the places or to do something.
However, is there any way to fool the facial recognizance system The answer is yes. Although it is an technology, it sometimes doesn't work. The following are some examples.
( )13.What can we know about facial recognition technology from Paragraph 2
A.It helps us a lot in our life. B.It helps us go anywhere fast.
C.It lets stores make more money. D.It is the most useful technology in the world.
语篇六
Everything around us is made of matter--your clothes, the trees, and even the water you drink! There are three states of matter: liquid, gas and solid. Whatever state the matter may be, it is made of tiny things called atoms(原子). These atoms are too tiny to be seen with eyes. They even can't be seen with a common microscope (显微镜).
We can only see atoms through very powerful tools. If you put a million atoms together, they will be only as thick as a single piece of human hair. We can easily see liquids and solids around us, but most gases are invisible. We can't see the air around us, but it always moves around freely in space How can we tell Take a balloon as an example. When we blow air into a balloon,we can see that it becomes big. That means gas is filling the balloon and taking up space. The more air we blow into the balloon, the bigger it gets. This way, we can “see” the gas. Another example is pool toys. Pool toys can also be filled with air so that they can float on water. And then we can enjoy a sunny day while floating in a pool.
Atoms are always moving. However, atoms move at different speeds in different states of material. Atoms move slower in solids than they do in liquids. That's because atoms in solids are closely put together, and there is less space for them to move around. The atoms in gas move the fastest. Since the atoms is move more freely in liquids and gases, they can take a process called diffusion(扩散). (Solids can have diffusion as well, although it's a much longer process.)That's why, when you cook in the kitchen with the door open, others will later smell it in the other rooms. The atoms from the dishes take diffusion through the air.
( )14.What can we know from the first paragraph
A.All matter can be divided into three states. B.People can see all the atoms with their naked eyes.
C.People can see some atoms with their naked eyes. D.Some matter are made of tiny things-atoms.

Perfumes(香水), soaps, and other products often have special smells, called fragrances(香氛). Fragrances are often not natural smells, and they can influence the moods(情绪)of the people who smell them. Creating and selling fragrances can be a big business, helping businessmen earn about $48 billion every year.
IBM is a computer company that has been working on Artificial Intelligence (AI). IBM's Al system(系统)for fragrances is called Philyra. It can't actually smell, but it uses lots of different information to find new fragrances. The information Philyra needed came from Symrise, a German company good at making fragrances. Symrise has information on all kinds of materials used to make perfumes. It also has about 1.7 million different formulas(配方). Finally, Symrise was also able to give Philyra information about what kinds of smells people like.
Usually the work of creating a new smell is done by a perfumer. Perfumers spend years learning how to make special smells and how people like those smells. It can take from six months to four years for a perfumer to create a new fragrance. O Boticario, Brazil's second-largest beauty store, asked IBM and Symrise to come up with two new perfumes that people born in the 1980s and1990s would like. So Philyra began creating new formulas according to patterns it found in the information from Symrise. As a result, Philyra came up with many formulas very quickly. It greatly changes the traditional way of making fragrances and saves lots of time.
David Apel, who worked with AI to create the fragrances, said the way Philyra used different materials was something that he would never have thought of doing. “Because a computer doesn't have the sense that a human does, it will try unusual things. It can lead us in directions we wouldn't normally try,” Mr. Apel said.
So how are the new perfumes When O Boticario tried out its new perfumes on people, the perfumes were very prevalent. People receive them well. And they are even more popular than some famous perfumes.
( )15.We can know from the text that_________.
A.Philyra may totally take the place of the perfumers one day
B.Symrise provides much information on perfumes
C.Symrise is responsible for selling the new perfumes
D.Philyra uses AI technology to improve its sense of smell
