疑问词表示相应含义,不可省略。
宾语从句用陈述语序。

Compare the sentences below.

1) He asks me whether/if Lucy will be
back in two days.
他问我露西是否两天后回来。
2) He asks whether/if we will go fishing
on Sunday.
他问我们是否周日去钓鱼。
if/whether常放在 ask,see,say,know,wonder,find out等动词/词组之后,表达不确定概念,意为“是否” 。两者常可换用,口语中多用 if。
whether/if 引导的宾语从句
if或whether引导宾语从句时,作“是否”讲,一般情况下,两者常可换用。
只能用 的情况 Please tell us whether to go or stay here.
I don’t know whether or not I can come.
We worried about whether he was in good health.
Whether it is true or not, I can’t tell.

4. 宾语从句放在句
首表示强调时
* 遇到“什么时间、什么地点、什么方式、什么原因”之类的疑问时,要用相应的疑问词来引导宾语从句。
* 疑问词通常有疑问代词what, which, who, whose和疑问副词where, when, why, how等。

疑问词引导的宾语从句
从句类型 连接词 例句
由that引导的宾语从句 that(在口语或非正式文体中常省略) I think that you are right.
由连词if\whether引导的宾语从句 Whether, if (在口语中常用if) I wonder if/ whether they will have the races again next year.
由疑问词引导的宾语从句 who, what, which, when, where, how, why Could you tell me please where the restrooms are
Now we have learned three kinds of object clauses:
1) Where does Mr. Liu live
Do you know
2) What were you doing at that time
I want to know.
Try to make the two sentences into one.
* 不管主句为陈述句还是疑问句,由疑问词引导的宾语从句都要用陈述句语序。
* 句末是否用问号由主句确定。
主句是陈述句时,句末用句号;
主句是疑问句时,句末用问号。

宾语从句三要素:
连接词 that(陈述句)
if/whether(一般疑问句)
who; whom; whose; which; what
when; where; why; how(特殊疑问句)
时态 主句为现在时,
从句可以是任何时态
主句为过去时,
从句多用过去时态
客观真理,自然现象等不变
语序 陈述语序
时态、语序、引导词
学习宾从三注意:
主句若为现在时,从句时态随句意。
主句若为过去时,从句也要用过去。
语序要用陈述序,切莫照般疑问句。
that引导陈述句,省与不省没关系。
从句若表“是否”时,if、whether均可以。
特殊疑问作宾语,仍用原来疑问词。
