Step 1. Warming-up Show some pictures of the teachers and ask Ss to guess what the teachers are doing. Students guess what the teachers are doing. To arouse students’ interest by playing a guessing game with the help of pictures.
Step 2 Leading-in T asks Ss to brainstorm what volunteers do to help others. Ss brainstorm and give different answers. To elicit students’ background knowledge about volunteer work.
Step 3 Presentation T shows pictures of volunteers helping others. Present target language Ss look at the pictures and learn the target language. Present, ask and answer
Step 4 comprehensive tasks Set up your own volunteer groups and do volunteer work now!
Task1 Divide ss into four parts Go to the right place
Task 2 Think of a name for your volunteer group Ask Ss to discuss and think of a name. Students discuss in groups Stimulate students’ interest and imagination through discussion.
Task 3 Discussion Ask Ss to discuss and decide what their volunteer groups can do Students discuss in groups Expand their ideas through discussing
Task 4 Show time Ask some Ss to give a speech, reading out the report and sharing their ideas. Ss read out the reports in class Train students’ speaking skills and share their work with others.
Step 5 Exeecise Deal with 4a 4b and 4c Ask group leaders to choose their exercise Group leaders turn the turntable to get their task
Step 6 Moral education Encourage students to do volunteer work as a group and play their own part in helping make the world more beautiful. Students understand the importance of helping others Raise students awareness of helping others.
Step 7. Summary. The teacher summarizes the phrasal verbs and sentence pattern struture Ss follow the teacher to summarize what they learned in the class. Summarize the target language so that students can have a clear picture of what they learned in the period.
