It was a week before I saw Captain Nemo again. Every morning, I noticed fresh air coming into the rooms and I knew that the Nautilus had surfaced(浮出水面). I would go out and see the sunrise.
Then I received a note from Captain Nemo. He invited me and my friends to go hunting with him in the forests of Crespo Island. Ned was excited because he thought there he could find a chance to escape. When I saw Captain Nemo the next day, I asked him why he was so interested in Crespo Island. “I thought you preferred the sea to being on land.”
“I do,” replied the Captain. “But these forests are under the sea.” During breakfast, he explained that he had made diving suits(潜水服) that used special air tanks. These tanks would allow us to stay under the water for ten hours. He had also made lights that worked in electric batteries. When Ned realized that we were not going onto land for our hunting trip, he decided not to come at all.
Conseil and I put on our diving suits, and so did Captain Nemo and one of his men. We stepped into a room and closed the door. The room was filled with water, and another door opened. We must go through it, and we were in the sea floor. It was an amazing experience.
We were about ten meters under the water. The light from the sun reached us. Everything looked very colorful. We walked over the fine sand and enjoyed the colors of the shells, fish and seaweed. Conseil and I followed Captain Nemo and his man as they crossed a large grassy area. We were going deeper and deeper. Two hours later, we were a hundred meters under the water. The suits worked very well, and it was easy to walk and breathe.
At one hundred meters deep, we could still see quite well, and Captain Nemo stopped and pointed to some dark shapes. This was the forest. The “trees” in the forest were giant seaweed, and all their branches were vertical(垂直的). We could not stop looking at them. Fish swam around the branches like birds in a forest. Small shrubs(灌木) grew under the large seaweed trees. Some of them had flowers.
We walked through this forest for about an hour, and then we lay down to rest. I was not hungry, but I was very sleepy. We all slept, and when we woke up, we walked further.

Global warming is one of the most serious dangers to our mother earth. Due to global warming, the ice of the glaciers will melt down one day ,the sea level will increase from the present level, and a lot of diseases will occur. To stop all these bad happenings, global warming must be stopped as soon as possible. All necessary steps should be taken so as to save life on earth.
There are a lot of causes of global warming. Some of these causes are natural. But some causes are produced by humans. People should use the following methods to reduce them.
One should reduce the use of electrical appliances which give off harmful gases and are a big reason for this problem. These gases include carbon dioxide, methane, nitrogen dioxide, etc.
Become a vegetarian. It will reduce the raising of animals for the purpose of food, and so reduce the production of methane.
Use the rule of RRR in your daily life. RRR means Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. By following RRR people can reduce the waste of energy. Therefore, less fuel will be used to produce energy, thus reducing the greenhouse effect. For example, recycle paper for further use.
Among all the methods to stop the greenhouse effect, the most effective one is to plant more trees because plants or trees absorb the carbon dioxide in the environment.
The use of fluorescent bulbs(荧光灯) should be increased because these bulbs produce few greenhouse gases.
Use renewable energy resources like solar energy, which can help in reducing the production of harmful gases.
Tell your friends and neighbours the above methods. And remember: if you stop the causes of global warming, the earth will stop warming.
1.According to the passage, what can global warming lead to
①The decrease in glaciers.
②The rise of the sea level.
③The increase in diseases.
④The reduction in the number of wild animals.
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①③④ D.①②④
2.According to the passage, the best method to stop the greenhouse effect is to ________ .
A.reduce the use of electrical appliances B.use fluorescent bulbs
C.plant as many trees as possible .try to use solar energy
3.Why does the author advise people to become vegetarians
A.Because it can resolve the conflicts between humans and animals.
B.Because people can live a healthier life in this way.
C.Because it can help protect animals.
D.Because it can reduce the giving off of methane.
4.What is the author's purpose in writing this passage
A.To show his concern about global warming.
B.To show the importance of protecting the environment.
C.To tell us how to reduce global warming.
D.To tell us what leads to global warming.

A Powerisers
The ability to jump two meters in the air may not be something you have thought too much about. And most people have never considered running at 30 kilometers an hour. But just stop for a moment and think about how our new product could change your life.
Your daily journey to your place of work is probably a mad dash for the bus. There is no point in taking your car because there are traffic jams, and anyway the car parks are probably very expensive or, worse still, full. Here is where Powerisers can help. It takes just a couple of minutes to put them on and then you are away, going past others or even jumping over the object which blocks your way.
That is the practical use for our product, but then there is sport and exercise. Powerisers are set to be the next extreme sport and the deep-fit tools. You can imagine the 100 meters, the high jump or basketball performed by athletes wearing Powerisers. And what better way to build your muscles and keep fit
Our product is very simple. It is powered by a superlight spring, which uses the gravitational(重力的) pull from your body weight and pushes you with superhuman strength. There have been no records of serious injury related to the use of Powerisers, but extreme caution is recommended. We strongly advise the wearing of protective clothing, including at least a helmet(头盔).
Powerisers make you feel as if you were walking on the moon. Now we make two different models: Basic and Professional. The Basic model is designed for the occasional users and costs around $ 500. The Professional model, which is designed for the competitive use, has a strongly-made structure and different springs, though that comes at the increased price of $800. Our Powerisers are guaranteed for two years and will be replaced without question if they fail during that period. That is how confident we are.
1. According to the passage, Powerisers can help you _____.
A. get on the bus B. jump over blocks
C. relax hard muscles D. lift heavy weights
2. A helmet is recommended to users to _____.
A. prevent them from being injured
B. provide them with superhuman strength
C. offer them the feeling of walking on the moon
D. bring them good results in competitive situations
3. What is the author's purpose of writing the passage
A. To advertise a sports product.
B. To show advantages of taking exercise.
C. To explain basic principles of Powerisers.
D. To introduce the development of Powerisers.

Boys like to be considered to be brave, but what kind of things can be considered to be brave It is not a question that can be answered by words, but by the actual action. A boy with the name Henry gave us a good example. Ronny and Henry were two friends in the same class. They always played together and went home together. One day as Ronny and Henry were going home after school, they saw some people fighting in the street corner. Ronny said excitedly, "Some people are fighting! Let's go and have a look!" But Henry refused, "It's none of our business. We'd better go home and don't get close to them. Also our parents are expecting to have dinner with us together at home and I don't want them to worry about me."
"You are a coward(胆小鬼), and afraid to go," said Ronny, and off he ran to the spot with some other boys. Henry had to go home alone and didn't think about it anymore. But Ronny thought Henry was a coward and told all the boys that. They laughed at him a great deal. From then on, they looked down upon Henry and didn't want to play with him.
Henry was sad but he wasn't angry with Ronny for his rude behavior, because he had learned that true courage was shown most in accepting misunderstanding when it was not deserved, and that he ought to be afraid of nothing but doing wrong. Thus, he just ignored the other boys' laughter and continued to stick to his thought and go to school and study as well. Since Ronny didn't invite Henry to go home with him anymore. Every day after school, Ronny and his new friends didn't go home directly but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had lots of fun.
Paragraph 1:
A few days later, something terrible happened to Ronny.

Paragraph 2:
At that moment, Henry happened to pass by.
