①until “直到……为止”表示动作、状态的持续,强调“一直到……为止”,或强调某个动作或状态一直持续到另一个动作或状态出现之前。常与延续性动作的动词连用。

一、until 引导时间状语从句
[注意] until用于肯定句以及否定句:
用于肯定句,表示“直到……为止”,主句的谓语动词一般是延续性动词,它所表示的动作延续到until/till所表示的时间为止。 He waits until/till the children are asleep.
他一直等到孩子们睡着。
用于否定句,表示“直到……才”,主句的谓语动词一般是短暂性动词,它所表示的动作直到until/till 所表示的时间才发生。 He didn't arrive until/till the game had begun.
直到比赛开始他才到。
[拓展] so…that…意为“如此……以至于……”,用来引导结果状语从句,so后接形容词或副词原级。
The box is so heavy that we can't carry it.

二、although引导让步状语从句
although(=though) “虽然;尽管;即使”,引导让步状语从句。可以放在主句前面,也可以放在主句后面。

在同一个句子里,Although或though与but不能同时出现。

although作连词,意为“尽管;虽然”,同though,用来引导让步状语从句。

[注意] 句中如果有although, though, even though,则不能再使用but。
3.so that
so that 用来引导目的状语从句, 意思为“以便, 为了”, 从句中常用can (could), will (would), may (might)等情态动词。so ... that ...用来引导结果状语从句。
