1. 构成及用法
过去进行时由“was / were +动词-ing”构成，表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作。常与过去进行时连用的时间状语有at eight / nine ... (o’clock) yesterday morning, at that time，from eight to ten yesterday morning等。
过去进行时
e.g. Alice was doing her homework at six yesterday evening.
Mike and his brother were playing soccer from three to four yesterday afternoon.
肯定式：
主语+was/were+动词-ing (+其他).
e.g. I was swimming at that time.
否定式:
主语+wasn’t/weren’t +动词-ing (+其他).
e.g. They weren’t listening to music at
ten yesterday morning.
2. 句式
疑问式:
Was / Were+主语+动词-ing (+其他)
其肯定回答为：Yes, 主语(人称代词)+ was / were.；
否定回答为：No, 主语(人称代词)+ wasn’t / weren’t.
e.g. —Was Joe reading at the time of the
rainstorm
—Yes, he was. / No, he wasn’t.
过去进行时
含义: 表示过去某个时刻正在进行的动作。
结构: was/were + doing
e.g. I was having an English class at this time yesterday.
现在进行时
含义: 表示现在正在进行的动作。
结构：
is/am/are + doing
e.g. I am having an
English class.
过去进行时和现在进行时的区别
过去进行时和一般过去时的区别
过去进行时 一般过去时
基本用法 表示在过去的某一时刻或某一时间正在进行的动作。 过去某个时间发生过的动作或存在的状态。
结构形式 主语 + was/were + V-ing形式 主语 + 动词过去式
时间状语 at 7 yesterday, at that time, this time last night等;when与while 引导的时间状语从 句。 yesterday, last week, in 1993, once, before, a few days ago等。
友情提示 表示一个过去正在进行而可能尚未完成的动作。 表示过去已经完成的动作。
过去进行时表示过去正在进行的动作,
而一般过去时则表示一个完整的动作。
e.g. They were writing letters to their
friends last night.
昨晚他们在写信给他们的朋友。
(没有说明信是否写完)
They wrote letters to their friends last
night. 他们昨晚写了信给他们的朋友。
(表达了他们已写好的意思, 整个写的过
程已完成。)
