How to Describe a Past Event 教学设计
Teaching aims:
1. To teach students how to use “when” and “while” to describe something happened in
the past.
2. To teach students to use the past tense and past progressive tense to write about
a past event.
3. To teach students how to use linking words to polish the article.
Step Teaching process Purpose
Step 1:Brain storm Have a brain storm about the important events in our life. To arouse students’ in the topic.
Step 2: Presentation Show a writing task from the Senior High School Entrance Exam of Hubei in 2016 – working as a volunteer in the old people’s home. To show students an example.
Show a mind map about what to write. To let students think about what to write before writing.
Suggestion about the structure of the passage. To get students to have a good understanding of the outline of the article before writing.
Ask students to think about how to write. Firstly, list some useful words and phrases. Secondly, choose proper tense. Thirdly, suggestion about how to write sentences. To set up framework to help students write sentences and article step by step.
Teach students how to polish the article, such as adding linking words. To teach students some writing skills.
Step 3: Pair work Ask students to talk about their own experience using while. To consolidate the usage of while and past progressive tense.
Step 4: While writing Ask students to write about the sports meeting. To ask them to write an article by themselves.
Step 5: After writing Check several students’ article by the standards and ask them to check each other’s article. To show students the key points a good writing should include.
Step 6:Summary Make a summary how to write about a past event. To ask students to make a summary on their own.
Step 7: Homework Write something you remember well. Any event is OK. To consolidate writing.
