Step 1 Lead-in ● Show students some times on the screen. Encourage students to say the times in groups to review the time expressions one by one. Ask them to work as quickly as they can. ● Encourage other groups to correct mistakes. Step 2 Presentation ● Show two circles on the screen to introduce “half” and “quarter”. Remind students a quarter equal to15mins, half an hour equal to 30mins, an hour equal to 60mins. Help students to get familiar with the words half and quarter. ● Show students four clocks on the screen. Introduce the time expressions using past and to. Remind students that this time they should say the minutes first. ● Show four pictures about different time. Introduce AM and PM to students. Remind students AM means in the morning and PM means in the afternoon, evening or at night.Step 3 Practice ● Show them some times on the screen. Encourage students to say the times using past and to. Correct mistakes and remind them how to express the times in this way again. ● Show them four clocks.
