One day, I noticed the most beautiful Cadillac pull in the lot while waiting for my husband. A pretty woman driver pulled into the spot beside our car. There was a striking resemblance to Liz Taylor. Her eyes were as blue as the sea, and teeth like an even row of pearls. A few minutes later, a nice-looking man entered her car, leaned over and kissed her and she drove away. Sitting there, I wanted to cry. My envy continued to exist long after she drove away.
A couple of weeks later, sitting in our usual parking lot, I was holding a book, watching her over the top of it. Her husband came to the car, took her arm and helped her out of the car. I could see very well as she moved to get out. She unsteadily walked around to the passenger side very slowly, leaning on a walking cane. Sitting sideways, she lifted one leg with her hands and then the other. The beautiful lady had a prosthesis on the left leg and a brace on the right leg.
Tears were blinding me. I told my husband about the beautiful lady. He said he knew her husband and their story. The lady and her parents were in a car that got caught on the railroad tracks and was hit by a train. Both parents were killed and she was severely injured. She was only 12 years old. The railroad made a large settlement with her because the crossing had no signals. He explained her car was specially built for her needs as well as the home.
I prayed for forgiveness all the way home. I realized how lucky I was to have my parents, the ability to walk, run or dance through life and many wonderful things money can’t buy. I would not have exchanged anything with the beautiful lady.
When you meet a person who seems to be better off then you, don’t be fooled.
24. Why did the author want to cry when noticing the beautiful lady

26. What made the author pray for forgiveness all the way home
A. Regretting her marriage. B. Knowing the lady’s sufferings.
C. Admiring the lady’s appearance. D. Leaving without waving to the lady.
27. What does the author want to tell us
A. Never judge a book by its cover. B. To see is to believe.
C. Everything happens for the best. D. Happiness consists in beauty.

It would be nice if eating a particular food could magically protect you against all the boring illnesses. It’s not that simple, of course. Hand washing remains your best defense against picking up illnesses, and sleep is a strong defense too. But what you eat does play an important part. Though it isn’t because of just one or two foods, what you eat in your daily diet have an effect on how weak or strong your immunity(免疫力)is.
We’d better eat fruits and vegetables every day. They contain key vitamins needed in the immune system. For example, Vitamin C and A in foods help immune system work well to keep us healthy. Remember that eating the actual fruit or veggie is better than eating single-vitamin supplements(补品).
Getting too little protein can weaken your immune system. Protein-rich foods supply the amino acids(氨基酸)you need to build important proteins in the body. Animal foods like beef and pork also contain zinc(锌), which your body uses to make t-cells.
Fermented(发酵的) foods are foods that are naturally protected by bacteria(细菌), and they’re good for the micro biome(微生物).That’s the name for the bacteria that live in your stomach, where a lot of cells in immunity actually live. Fermented foods like yogurt help beneficial bacteria develop fast in the stomach, leaving less room for harmful bacteria.
28. What does paragraph 1 mainly tell us
A. Hand washing is necessary. B. Illnesses make people bored.
C. Immunity has much to do with your diet. D. More sleep does good to health.
29. Why does the writer suggest we eat fruits and vegetables every day
A. They are rich in vitamins we need.
B. Vitamin A is helpful for immunity.
C. Fruits supply our body with Vitamin C only.
D. Eating single-vitamin foods does little good.
30. What can we infer from paragraph 3
A. Amino acids can help to make t-cells.
B. Healthy body needs plenty of protein.
C. The immune system can be hurt easily.
D. We should eat animal foods as many as possible.
31. What is the main idea of the text
A. Different foods have different uses.
B. Fruits and vegetables keep us healthy.
C. Many illnesses do harm to the immunity.
D. Proper daily diet protects our immune system.
D
Foldable phones are once again facing questions about their durability. The Galaxy Z Flip and the Motorola Razr are now both available to buy in the US — but early reports suggest the screens are easily damaged. The Galaxy Z flip boasts a “flexible glass” display — but tests appear to show it scratching as easily as plastic.
In a statement, Samsung said the display had a protective layer, and had undergone extensive testing. “While the display does bend, it should be handled with care,” it said.
The Z Flip’s “pretty thin glass” is one of Samsung’s primary marketing messages for the new phone. But a durability test made by popular Zack Nelson, a regular buyer, suggested it was no more durable than a soft plastic screen — and could even be dented by a fingernail.
Nelson said Samsung’s screen scratched exactly how a plastic screen would react. “I don’t know what material this is, but Samsung definitely shouldn’t be calling it glass,” he said. He found that the screen of the Motorola Razr scratched as easily but it is not marketed as “glass”.
The Motorola Razr was put on sale 13 days ago in the US but Raymond Wong, an editor says the flexible screen on his handset has already broken. The upper layer of the Razr’s screen separated from the bottom, creating “a giant horizontal air bubble” for no apparent reason.
32. What attitude do the buyers have to the quality of Galaxy Z Flip and Razr
A. Worried. B. Objective. C. Optimistic. D. Unconcerned.
33. What is the outstanding feature of the Z Flip by Samsung
A. Low price. B. Portable style. C. Protective function. D. Extremely thin screen.
34. Why does Nelson complain about Samsung
A. He is angry at its post-sale service. B. He is strict in its screen materials.
C. He is unsatisfied with its inexact statement. D. He is disappointed at its unfair competition.
35. What is the best title of the text
A. Cheat always exists in business B. Disadvantages of two kinds of phones
C. Foldable phones may not be all that great
D. Different brands have their special features

Dear Tom,
Swimming has been my favourite sport since I was little. My father began to teach me when I was just 5 years old. I took part in several swimming competitions and got top prizes. I like it so much and the reasons are as follows.
First of all, it is an excellent form of exercise to keep my body in perfect shape. In addition, it is also an effective way to relax. I swim with a very low effort, focusing on nothing but the rhythm of my stroke which helps me gain a feeling of well-being. Furthermore, swimming is a wonderful recreational activity.
I hope you like it as well.
