1.让学生结对讨论教材第56页上方“THINK ABOUT IT”的两个问题,然后邀请几名学生分享自己的看法。
2.让学生浏览活动1的4个问题,然后带着问题阅读文章,找到问题的答案并做好相应的记号。教师请4名学生分享自己的答案,然后订正答案。
3.让学生再次阅读短文,勾画出短文中的生词、重点短语和句子。教师讲解学生标出的生词、重点短语和句子以及文中出现的其他重难点(教师可邀请学生尝试翻译一些句式较为复杂的难句)。
4.让学生朗读活动2方框中的单词,并理解其意思,然后用方框中所给单词的适当形式完成活动2中的5个句子。教师请五名学生分享自己的答案,然后核对答案。
5.让学生观察活动3的图片,并模仿第一幅图片下方文字说明的格式把其他几幅图片也补充完整,教师核对答案。
6.要点点拨。
(1)Her grandma had a terrible type of cancer.
have cancer意为“患癌症”。have在此表示“患(病),得(病)”,与catch和get同义。但have是延续性动词,表示状态; catch和get是瞬间动词,表示动作,不可跟一段时间连用。例:I caught/got a bad cold three days ago.我三天前得了重感冒。
(2)She asked people if they could help her grandma see the world through pictures.
if在句中作连词,意为“是否”,引导宾语从句。例:The teacher asked if everyone was here.老师问人是否到齐了。
(3)You have made my dream come true.
make one's dream come true意为“使某人的梦想成真”。come true表示“实现,成真;应验”。例:His dream will come true sooner or later.他的理想迟早会实现。
(4)Neither Jane nor her grandma would ever forget that day.
neither...nor... 既不……也不……,当它连接两个并列成分作主语时,谓语动词的数与nor后的主语的数保持一致。例:Neither you nor I like going shopping.你不喜欢购物,我也不喜欢。

【辨析】as、when与while
①as作连词,引导时间状语从句,表示“一边……一边……;随着”,as从句的动作是延续性的,一般用于主句和从句动作同时发生。例:As time went on,the weather got better.随着时间的推移,天气变得好多了。
②when引导的从句中的谓语动词可以是延续性的,也可以是瞬间动词。并且when有时表示“就在那时”。例:Sorry,I was out when you called me.对不起,你给我打电话时我出去了。
③while引导的从句中的谓语动词必须是延续性的,并强调主句和从句的动作同时发生(或者相对应),while有时还可表示对比。例:While we were talking,the teacher came in.老师进来的时候,我们正在说话。
(2)Can we set up a time to go online together
set up在句中意为“安排”。此外,它还可表示“建立,设立”。例:We have set up a time to hold a class meeting.我们安排了一个时间开班会。
(3)It can give me directions to anywhere I want to go.
anywhere作副词,用于肯定句时意为“随便什么地方”。例:Sit anywhere.随便坐。

get sth.done意为“完成/做完某事”,通常由自己完成。此外,get/have sth.done还有“让某人做某事”的意思。例:I am going to get/have my hair cut.我要去剪发。
(3)And if a friend lives far away,the Internet makes it easy to stay in touch.

if引导的条件状语从句
定义:if意为“如果,假如”,它引导的句子表示某事发生所需要的条件,即“在……条件下,某事才能发生”,在句子中充当条件状语从句。
位置:if引导的条件状语从句既可以放在主句前,也可以放在主句后。从句位于主句之前时,常用逗号将其与主句隔开。
时态:①在含if条件状语从句的复合句中,主句用一般将来时,从句用一般现在时表示将来,即“主将从现”原则。例:We will go to the park if it doesn't rain tomorrow.如果明天不下雨的话我们将去公园。
②在含if条件状语从句的复合句中,如果主句有must、can、may等情态动词,从句用一般现在时,即“主情从现”原则。例:You must stop crossing the road if the traffic light is red.如果交通灯是红色的你必须停止过马路。
③在含if条件状语从句的复合句中,主句是祈使句,从句用一般现在时表示将来,即“主祈从现”原则。例:Don't wait for me if I am late.如果我晚了就不用等我了。
【注意】①在含if引导的条件状语从句的复合句中,主句一般不使用be going to结构表示将来,而要用will。例:We will go shopping if you are free.如果你有空,我们就去购物。
②在if引导的条件状语从句中不能够使用some,而要用any。例:If you have any questions to ask,please come to my office.如果你有问题要问的话,请到我办公室来。
