【知识与技能】
1.掌握以下单词和短语:
save, symbol, flag, forget, place, water, kill, ivory, over, get lost, be in danger,
cut down, be made of, one of..., a symbol of...,
2.熟练掌握以下句型:
1). The elephant is one of Thailand's symbols.
2). Let's save the Elephants.
3). There are only about 3,000 elephants(over 100,000 before).
3.通过阅读训练来让学生们逐步提高英语阅读能力。
【过程与方法】
1.读取图片信息,预测文章内容。
2.利用关键词,通过略读(skimming)的方式,选择最佳标题。
3.通过寻读(scanning)的方式,找出每段的中心句,加强篇章的整体理解。
4.细读文章(careful-reading)并有针对性地解决问题。
By reading, students can catch the general idea of the passage, and get the specific information about elephants. After learning, they can write a description of an animal with their own ideas by using the target language.
【情感态度与价值观】
动物和人类都生活在同一地球上,动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处,共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物,保护动物。
Teaching and learning steps:
Step 1. Warming up and leading in
1). Have a free talk.
①-What’s your favorite animal -My favorite animal is...
②-Why do you like them -Because they’re...
2). Ask the students to guess my favorite animal by using the tips.
① They are very smart.
② They eat grass and leaves.
They have long noses.
Then the students can guess my favorite animal is elephants.
(设计意图:通过对话自然过渡到猜测老师最喜爱的动物,根据三条小提示一步一步得出答案,既能激发学生的兴趣,活跃课堂,又能达到热身的目的,为下面的文章阅读做好铺垫。)
Step 2. Pre-reading
1). Watch a video of the elephants. This helps to lead in the new words.
2). Read the picture for predicting.
(Reading strategy: Reading the picture can help you guess what you will read.)
(设计意图:培养学生通过读取图片信息来预测文章内容的能力,使他们对将要学习的内容形成初步的感知印象。)
Step 3. While-reading
(1). Fast-reading
1). Read the passage fast and choose the best title.

B. Come to Thailand
C. Let's Save The Elephants
D. Elephants Are Good Pets
2). Read again and match each paragraph with the topic sentences.
Paragraph 1 A. Elephants are in great danger.
Paragraph 2 B. Elephants are smart animals.
Paragraph 3 C. Elephants are important in Thailand.
(Reading strategy: You can use the key words to look for answers. And the first sentence in each paragraph can help you find the topic sentences.)

(1). Summary: Test your memory
Use some key words to retell the article.

(2). Group work: Writing
利用提示词, 4人一组, 合作完成一篇题为“save the pandas”的小短文。
