三、阅读理解
A
Megan Sorbo is an ordinary girl in Florida. When she first made a speech about her support for Florida black bears at a public meeting, she was 9. She was not even tall enough to reach the microphone.
Now 13, the homeschooled student from Florida cares about not only black bears but also Florida’s natural environment. This month, she asked the state wildlife commissioners(委员) to cut hunting as a way to save bear populations. She also asked Orange County commissioners to protect the Split Oak Forest from a road building plan.
In the matter of Split Oak, the commissioners chose to extend(延伸) the 28.2 km Osceola Parkway across the southernmost Split Oak Forest. Sorbo wrote to mayor Jerry Demings, saying the road would harm the environment.
Although Megan was young, she never gave up making efforts to protect nature. “Kids can’t vote(投票) doesn’t mean we don’t care,” she told the commissioners. “Kids aren’t doctors or lawyers yet doesn't mean our voices are not important.”
Although the project went on, the mayor spoke highly of her effort. “We like your strong love to our state,” he said, thanking her for being active in her community.
Sorbo’s mother was proud of her daughter, too. And she always helped her daughter when she was in need. She said that Megan’s bravery came from a trip that she took to the forest for a homeschool lesson at the age of 7. Sorbo saw a hunter who was killing bears. She was quite upset to see the animals killed.
Sorbo also called on people to use bear resistant trash cans(防熊垃圾桶). That can make bears less likely to trouble humans in their homes and reduce fighting between humans and bears.
“Small things can add up to make something big,” she says. She is happy that more people pay attention to the natural environment.
( )1. Which of the following best describes Megan Sorbo according to the first paragraph
A. Kind and careful. B. Brave and lucky.
C. Brave and kind. D. Hard working and lucky.

A. Stop hunting black bears. B. Protect the Split Oak Forest.
C. Build a road in the Split Oak Forest. D. Save bears by cutting bear hunting.
( )3. What can we know about from the passage
A. Megan voted to disagree with the road building plan.
B. Megan dreams about being a doctor or lawyer in the future.
C. Megan's mother was in support of Megan's work to protect nature.
D. Megan stopped the commissioners extending the Osceola Parkway.
( )4. The underlined word “reduce” in Paragraph 7 means ________.
A. lead B. cut C. shorten D. cause
