Analysis of students Students of Grade 7 have some basic knowledge about the prepositions and directions. They known how to get to the places they want to go. But they never design a route in London. This lesson may help them know more about London and have them design their own route of visiting London.
Teaching aims By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: Language ability Grasp some key information of the passage Talk about tour of London with the key expressions :go along, take the .... by.... go past, turn... , opposite, near... Learning ability a. Improve the ability of prediction before reading. b.Develop reading ability when finishing the unit task. Thinking quality a.Form the logical thinking of how to design a route of London. b.Have a deep thinking about the meanings from the tour of London. Cultural awareness Understand how to ask ways in foreign countries and raise the awareness of different cultures. Cultivate more communicating competence from the unit.
Key points and difficult points Key points: 1. To further learn the prepositions: near, opposite, go along, on the left/right, across and name of places. 2. To learn some expressions about asking ways and giving directions. 3. To learn the reading method. Difficult points: To get information from the article. To say the name of famous places correctly. 2. To write a composition about asking the way and giving directions.

Step 2 Pre-reading (3mins) 1.Lead in the topic by introducing London,UK. 2.Introduce the teaching objectives. 3.Lead in the tour written by Jacob and arouse their interests to learn more details. 1.Learn about London, the capital of UK. 2. Get to know the basic knowledge of tour of London. 3. Try to say more about London by the pictures. 1.To lead in the topic and get students understand the purpose of this class. 2.To help students learn about more London they know and get them into detail reading.
Step 3 While-reading (15mins) 1.Guide students how to find the detail information by careful reading. a.Read paragraph 1, fill in the blanks. To teach :Trafalgar square, National Gallery,Buckingham Palace. b.Read paragraph 2 and choose the best answers. To teach :Houses of Parliament, London eye. c.Brainstorm and Read paragraph 3&4 and fill in the route.To teach: Tower of London, Tower bridge. 2.Work in pairs:Read para 5 and finish the route. 1.Task1:Read paragraph 1, fill in the blanks and learn:Trafalgar square, National Gallery, Buckingham Palace. 2.Multiple choices to know about para2. 3. Brainstorm to say transportation. 4. Answer the questions to understand some details of para3&4 To learn: Tower of London, Tower bridge. 5.Work in groups to finish the route according to paragraph 5 and present. 1.To improve the ability of prediction before reading. 2.To find the target knowledge about tour of London. 3. Develop their reading skills and detail searching skills. 4. Encourage them to speak out what they have learned.
Step 4 Post-reading (20 mins) 1.Guide students to retell the tour of London. 2.Explore more about London by recommending 3 new places: Hard Rock, King’s cross, British Museum. 3.Ask students to work in groups and design the new route in London. 4. Group presentation. 1.Try to retell the tour by the map. 2. Learn the 3 new places and get ready to grasp the info. 3. Design their own route of visiting London and Discuss in groups. 4. Group presentation. 1.To guide students understand the route. 2.To help students realize how to design the route by the core phrases. 3.To introduce a route they have designed and give a show.
Summary and homework (2 min) 1. Search and get more information about the famous places. 2.
