Wingsuits
The suit fulfills your dreams of flying like a bird.Well, not exactly flying, but gliding(滑翔)through the air.It increases the surface area of the human body, which makes it easier for people to float in the air.Fliers wearing wingsuits can glide one kilometer in about 30 seconds.

I received a private message on Facebook. It began harmlessly enough:“Hey, girl.Wanted to invite you to join my next challenge group — we'll be focusing on fitting in 30 minutes of exercise and balanced nutrition.”
It was all becoming too much.Facebook was running my life, not me.
But what killed Facebook for me was when I posted a photo, and five minutes later my son asked me how many “likes” it had got.His question was a wake up call.
“Likes” are signs of acceptance and approval.I had forgotten that acceptance and approval need to come from within and had unknowingly set him a bad example.
Before Facebook, surfing the Internet was an occasional distraction and I spent a lot more time reading books and magazines.I checked in with friends through texts, emails and phone calls.
To recreate the simplicity of those days and set a healthier example to my son, I deactivated my Facebook account.
I'd been in the habit of checking Facebook many times a day, so I had to come up with some new habits.I carried a novel and a crossword puzzle book around with me.I rediscovered knitting.I started taking yoga classes.
I started to remember a few things. My body is fine just the way it is.I have friends who will help me out when I'm in trouble, and I will help them out.I do my best to be a good mother, and my son is happy and healthy. We are very lucky to be able to afford two vacations a year.
I stopped looking at the world through my cellphone.I felt completely present in the moment.
The break left me feeling better about myself, my family, my home and my life.
After a few weeks, I returned to Facebook. Now I look at the photos of my friends' kids growing up and treasure how social media allows me to keep in touch with family far and wide.I look in on a daily basis, but no longer with the desire constantly to post updates.
It is not an addiction any more.
24.What was the author's life like before she broke from Facebook
A.She enjoyed reading in her free time.
B.She spent much time on social media.
C.She didn't get along well with her son.
D.She didn't care about what others thought of her.

A.closed B.updated
C.kept D.checked
26.What did the author do to change her life
A.She went to the gym as often as she could.
B.She developed some healthy habits.
C.She tried to make money for her holidays.
D.She traveled around a lot for a year.
27.What is the author's attitude towards social media
A.Critical. B.Supportive.

A culture's values can be mirrored by its humour.Humour has been evaluated by many great minds such as Thomas Hobbes, who,in“On Nature”,disliked humour,“Laughter is nothing else but sudden glory arising from sudden thought of feeling far better than others.”He thought humour to be a negative quality of human narrow mindedness.
However, Mordechai Gordon,PhD of Education, insists, “humour allows us to view the world from an angle that is amusing rather than serious.” I agree with Gordon.Learning to look at the world through humour is important.
In the United States, every four years an election occurs.Without humour as a way to express their feelings, how would Americans be willing to support the election?Television shows like “The Daily Show” have become important parts of American culture. They are mothering the masses by unconsciously inputting politics into our mouths. They make politics fun.
Of course, politics is only one type of humour.Social humour helps people through the twists and turns of the human condition.American pop culture promotes an unhealthy self image. On the topic of self image,Hari Kondabolu stands out.He has a joke about the popular musical group “The Pussycat Dolls”,describing their hit song “Don't Cha” as a negative representation of women. He points out an obvious offence in American culture.
A study from Loyola University of Maryland has shown that humour is one determining factor for selecting a mating partner.Amongst other things, mates look for an outstanding funny bone in a potential partner.
Of course, humour is not always used for good purposes.humour can be linked to vulgarity (粗俗) and racism, but, like everything else,it has potential to unite human beings by allowing us to laugh at ourselves, our failures and our connection with one another.
Though life may seem tough and depressing at times, all I have to do is look in the mirror at my increased wrinkles (皱纹) to know that there is a comedy out there that even Chaplin wasn't aware of.
With that in mind, remember to laugh with humanity and sometimes at humanity.
28.Hobbes believes that humour .
A.resulted in narrow mindedness of human beings
B.was only a way to laugh at others to make oneself feel better
C.had the power to mirror personal glory and national values
D.was for people to view the world from another angle

A.Worried. B.Disappointed.
C.Curious. D.Appreciative.
30.The fourth paragraph is developed mainly .
A.by process B.by example
C.by comparison D.by classification
31.What can we learn from the last two paragraphs
A.Chaplin wasn't aware of being laughed at.
B.The author feels helpless and sad about getting older.
C.Never be the one who laughs at other people.
D.The author is determined to face life with a sense of humour.

Gretchen Altman is smiling, leaning back casually, a cup of coffee in hand — Hills Bros.Coffee, to be precise. It looks like a casual shot, but if you hit like, leave a comment, and tag a friend, you can get three different cups of coffee, for free.
Altman is part of a growing trend of “micro influencers”.She has a small following — around 6,000 on Instagram. She charges $300 to $800 to promote something. She does some posts in exchange for free goods, as long as it's stuff she believes in.
As a micro influencer she has a much closer relationship with her followers than a big social media star.“I'm just living a normal life and people relate to that,” she says.“They just feel like I'm a friend of theirs.”
But it worries consumer rights groups.Several recent studies have found that young audiences are largely unable to understand when something is sponsored content.
In some cases, it's clear. When a big star takes to social media to advertise Coca Cola, for example, the assumption is that he or she is probably getting paid to do so.And the posts are clearly labelled as ads, with the caption “advertisement” or “sponsored content”.
But what happens when an ordinary person with just several thousand followers takes to social media to praise the virtues of a product? The motivations are not so definite. The problem with these social media posts is that you don't know whether it's an ad or not.
Altman is diligent in using those hashtags (标签).She loves what she does and sees it as a business, but she doesn't necessarily want to be a social media celebrity.
“With social media being so integrated into our everyday lives, we have this unique opportunity that I don't think anyone has ever had before where we can each be our own brand,” Altman says.
32.What does a micro influencer do according to the passage
A.Give enough likes.
B.Post to promote sales.
C.Recommend some comments.
D.Design advertisements.
33.What makes consumer rights groups feel worried
A.Sponsored content.
B.Ads with captions on posts.
C.The unclear motivations of the posts.
D.The increasingly growing number of audiences.
34.How does Gretchen Altman feel about being a micro influencer
A.Annoyed. B.Delighted.
C.Ambitious. D.Depressed.
35.Which of the following can be the best title
A.Instagram Advertising:Do You Know It When You See It
B.To Be a Micro influencer or to Be a Big Star
C.We Can Each Be Our Own Top Brand
D.Hills Bros.Coffee, Your Coffee

The English language has many ways to talk about something that is funny. 36 It is a basic human need.Physical humour, especially, can cross limits like nationality and language and bring people together from all different walks of life.
Humour comes in many forms. The most obvious and traditional way we use humour is in jokes. 37 This is when a person changes a word or uses it in a different context (语境) for comic effect.
Another way people can use humour is through telling a funny story.Perhaps something bad happened to them but they can laugh about it now.People also invent funny stories in order to make other people laugh. The advantage of this is that the characters aren't real. 38
Physical comedy usually divides opinions. For some, seeing someone fall down, whether it is planned or not, is one of the funniest things they can see. 39 Some types of humour can also be harmful if someone is not in the mood for being made fun of!People's senses of humour vary across the world, so what may be funny in your country might be incredibly harmful in another!
40 The British, for instance, are famous for their humour in English. However, people learning a foreign language face many difficulties when it comes to being funny in a second language.
A.Humour is just one of the ways.
B.Everyone needs to laugh once in a while.
C.Other forms of humour are word play and puns (双关语).
D.Therefore, you don't have to feel bad for laughing at them!
E.People of all ages and cultures have a strong sense of humour.
F.Most people know how to use some forms of humour in their native languages.

“It's the longest night of the year,” Uncle Louis said.“Does everyone feel like taking a run through the woods I want to show you something unusual.”
Hearing that, Papa warned that it was dangerous to go near that pack of humans who lived in the woods.
“They are hardly dangerous,” Uncle Louis laughed.“They are so clumsy and make so much noise. They are not able to get near us — or even see us if we don't want them to.Besides, this is their special night. They are quite peaceful and won't be bothering wolves.”

I work as a manager in a trade company and she's working at a law firm. It's all started to come together and we're finally able to make a life for ourselves.
W:Oh, that sounds wonderful. I have always known you two would make it. I hope I can keep in better contact with you.
M:Definitely! Actually, we just moved into a new place. There's a house warming party this Saturday, if you are free I know Jenny would love to see you again and it should be a good party.
W:Sounds great! I am free this weekend and I'll be there.

Bill Gates, an American inventor, computer programmer and businessman, is reportedly worth nearly $80 billion, making him one of the wealthiest people in the country today. He founded and was head of Microsoft for years.
Gates was born into a rich family in the state of Washington. His father was a lawyer; his mother was a banker. He is famous for being taken as the father of the modern computer. He studied at Harvard University but did not graduate because of his desire to develop new software.
As a 13 year old student, Gates was introduced to computer programming. In 1975, Gates spoke to a company called Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS). He convinced the owner of the company that he had written a program that would work well and make big money. The owner bought into Gates' inventions, and the two men reached an agreement to develop software for the company. Then the Microsoft Company was born.
Gates went on to develop the Windows operating system with then partner IBM. The two companies had differences though, and their partnership ended quickly. Gates worked as CEO until 2000. He remained active with the company for several years before leaving the company in 2008. In 2014, Bill Gates became the technical advisor of the firm.

A.Sponsored content.
B.Ads with captions on posts.
C.The unclear motivations of the posts.
D.The increasingly growing number of audiences.
解析:选C 推理判断题。根据第四段中的Several recent studies have found that young audiences are largely unable to understand when something is sponsored content.以及第六段最后两句可知,消费者权利组织担心的是微影响者发帖的动机并不明确,我们无法分辨其是广告还是别的。
34.How does Gretchen Altman feel about being a micro influencer

C.Ambitious. D.Depressed.

A.Instagram Advertising:Do You Know It When You See It
B.To Be a Micro influencer or to Be a Big Star

第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

38.选D 根据该空前The advantage of this is that the characters aren't real.
G项中的For others与空前的For some相呼应,符合语境。

It was a peaceful night.I was sleeping with my brothers, feeling warm and comfortable.Mama was sleeping nearby, covered by snow.Papa was somewhere nearby, watching over us.There was a bright moon and we all had had a good meal of venison (鹿肉).
“Uncle Louis is coming,” Papa said.We loved Uncle Louis. He was a funny wolf, and always had interesting things to tell us and show us.
A little while later, Uncle Louis appeared. We did not approach him with respect the way we approached Papa.We flew at him, jumped all over him, and rolled him in the snow.Uncle Louis laughed and patted us with his paws.He is black all over, with yellow eyes, and he is very tall.
“Oh, please, Papa, let us run through the woods with Uncle Louis and see something unusual!” we all begged.
“It is a fine night,” Papa smiled.“I must admit.I do feel like running.”

And we were off, all of us, heading towards the woods. It was almost midnight. The snow felt crisp and crunchy under our feet. The moon shone on my brothers' fur, and the stars were as bright as diamonds. As we dashed through the woods, we breathed the cold air deep into our lungs, feeling refreshed. With Papa and Uncle Louis leading the way, I felt strong and light as though I could run forever. Then we smelled something nice.
We stopped and sat on a hillside and below us was the humans' place. It was the first time my brothers and I had ever approached those wooden things, which, according to Uncle Louis, were made by putting pieces of wood together. We didn't see any humans, but we could hear them singing together inside the wooden things with warm light shining out through the holes. It was peaceful.I thought, “Even if they are dangerous, they are animals, just like we are.” Then we threw back our heads and sitting on the hillside above the place where the humans lived, we wolves sang, too, on this unusual night.
