一、 Material Analysis
This is the first period of Topic 3 in Unit 7. In 1a, Jane and Ben are talking about what their friends did at Kangkang’s birthday party, therefore, to review how to talk about the experiences in the past and to know, be familiar with and master how to describe the birthday party and what the friends did at the party. Then the students are continually exposed to Past Simple Tense and the grammar rules of Past Simple Tense.
二、 Teaching Aims
1. Knowledge aims:
To know how to read and use the new words and phrases: magic tricks, kung fu , yesterday: have a good time, just now
To know about how to express the experiences in the past:
- Did you sing a song at the party –Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t.
– Did he/she play the piano –Yes, he/she did. / No, he/she didn’t
To be able to master and use the rules of verbs’ past form:

To be able to understand the expressions of experiences in the past by listening.
To master the grammar rules of Past Simple Tense

To cultivate the students’ confidence in learning English and encourage them to take an active part in the class activities.

Important Points: to master the sentence patterns of expressing the experiences in the past; to be able to master and use the rules of verbs’ past form;
Difficult Points: to be able to use Past Simple Tense to describe experiences in the past.

To conclude the grammar rules by observing and thinking; to learn in certain situations.

六、Teaching procedures
Step 1. Warming up and leading in
1. Greetings.
2. Let the Ss enjoy a song.
Step 2. Pre-listening
1. Let the Ss listen to the song again and follow. Ask them to pay attention to the red words.
2. Show the picture of the party. Ask: What did they do yesterday. Show the answer: They had a party. Lead the Ss to learn the sentence pattern.
3. Show more pictures and help the Ss to make conversation similar to the one above.
4. Let’s chant! Show the sentences and let the Ss chant.
5. Play a guessing game to help the Ss learn to use the yes-no questions.
6. Show pictures and let the Ss make conversations by themselves.
Step 3. While-listening
1. Listen and match. Listen to 1a and match the activities with the children at Kangkang’s birthday party. Finish 1b.
2. Watch and understand.
Step 4. Post-listening
1. Read 1a and act it out.
2. Fill in the blanks to know how much they understand the conversation.
3. Show the outline and let the Ss retell 1a.
4. Listen to 2 and circle the programs you hear in the program list.
5. Listen again and fill in the blanks.
6. Have a talk about each child did at the party.
