不定式作定语
不定式作定语，一般作后置定语，与被修饰的名词或代词之间是主谓关系、动宾关系、同位关系或修饰关系。
主谓关系
(被修饰的名词或代词实际上是不定式的逻辑主语）
I need someone to help with the work.(Someone will help with the work.)
注意：在“某人是第…位做某事的人”固定结构中，不定式与被修饰的词间是主谓关系；
Edison was the first man to invent electric lights.
但如果不是主谓关系，而是“某人是第几位被…的人”的结构中，应用过去分词done做后置定语。
He was the first foreigner invited to take photos of Chinese pandas.
2. 动宾关系
（被修饰的名词或代词是动词不定式的逻辑宾语）
On Sundays, he always has a lot of letters to write. （ to write many letters）
3 同位关系
(某些抽象名词后面用不定式说明某种情况，陈述某种事实)，
如：chance, opportunity, way, time, right, need, moment, ambition, desire, promise, wish, courage, failure等.
We students should have the courage to face any difficulty.
He has no chance to explain it to you.

注意：
在谓语动词是“有”的意思的语句中，不定式作定语时，不定式表示的动作如果是句子的主语发出的，要用不定式的主动式，如：
I have some clothes to wash. (衣服由“我”自己洗）
但如果不定式的动作不是由主语发出的，就要用不定式的被动式，如：
I have some clothes to be washed. (衣服由别人洗）
另外，Is there anything to eat (“我”想吃些什么）
Is there anything to be eaten (有什么能（被）吃的东西吗？）
补充：在“ be+adj.+不定式”的复合谓语结构中，不定式要用主动式表被动含义），如 The question is difficult to answer.
The Chinese food is good to eat.

注意事项：
由于动词不定式与其修饰的词之间往往有动宾关系，而该不定式动词为不及物动词时，其后须加上适当的介词，构成不定式短语，即不定式＋介词结构，介词一般不可省去，如：
I need a pen to write with
Give me some paper to write on.
There are some things to be grateful for.
She has a child to take care of.
There is nothing to worry about.
He has no friend to depend on.
I've got a lot of things to see to this morning.
今天上午我有许多事情要处理。

不定式作结果状语
多用于固定句型搭配中，也可以表示出乎意料，意想不到的结果，
常常限于learn, find, be told, see, hear等动词。
He got to the station only to find the train had gone.
2. 不定式表示结果常见于下列句型
1) so...as to do （如此…而能够…）
Would you be so kind as to lend me your bicycle
把你的自行车借给我好吗？
2) such...as to do （如此…而能够…）
We are not such fools as to believe him.我们还没蠢到会相信他的地步
3) enough to do （足够地…而能够… ）
He didn't run fast enough to catch the train. 他跑得不够快，没赶上火车。

4) too...to do （太…而不能够…）
His eyesight is too poor to read such small letters.
他的视力太差了，看不清这么小的字。
注意：too之前如果有only, not, never, 此时不定式不再表否定意义，而表肯定意义，only too 表“非常”,“很”的意思。
如：
They are only too lucky to go abroad for a visit. 他们很幸运去国外访问。
2. One is never too old to learn. 活到老学到老。
另外，too后如果是happy, glad，kind, anxious, easy, delighted, eager, pleased, ready, surprised, willing之类形容词时，不定式也表肯定意义，
如：She was too happy to meet her old friend in the street.
