One day in autumn, Squire Gordon went on a long journey. John went with him and I pulled the coach. The weather was rainy and windy, but we travelled happily until we came to an old wooden bridge.
The man at the tollgate told us the river was rising fast. “There’s going to be a bad storm tonight,” he said.
We arrived in town, but Squire Gordon’s business took a long time. We didn’t leave until late afternoon. The wind was blowing, making a terrible sound. Suddenly, a huge tree fell across the road in front of us. I stopped. I was shaking with fear, but I did not turn around or run away.
“We must go back to the crossroads,” said John, “and drive six miles to the wooden bridge.”
When we got there, it was nearly dark. There was water in the middle of the bridge, but Squire Gordon did not stop. As soon as my feet touched the bridge, I knew that something was wrong. I didn’t move at all. “Go on, Beauty,” said Squire Gordon.
“There’s something wrong, sir,” said John. He got out and tried to lead me forward. “Come on, Beauty,” he said. But I knew that the bridge was not sale. Just then, a man saw us. “Hey there! Stop!” he cried. “What is it ” shouted Squire Gordon.
“The bridge is broken in the middle” he answered. “II you go onto it, you are all going to drown in the river.”
“Thank goodness!” said Squire Gordon. “Thank you, Beauty!” said John. We turned around and went along the road by the river. For a long time, no one said anything. Then John said, “Black Beauty saved our lives. He knew the bridge was dangerous. ”

The study trip is a kind of school education which is held outside and popular with students. Our school has also held many study trips. Here are my experiences.
Firstly, we went to pick tea leaves in person and made things by hand to experience life. Secondly, we got close to nature and learnt a lot by observing many plants and animals. Then, after we visited some museums as well as places of interest, we understood Chinese history and culture more deeply. Finally, we saw some meaningful movies and felt the great changes of our country.
In my opinion, the study trip is very helpful for us and we will be able to have more chances to take part in wonderful activities.
