(A)
I arrived in the U. K. last weekend to learn English. So far I have already made a few friends and had some traditional English food there. But after having three days of hamburgers, sandwiches and potatoes, I thought none could be more delicious than Chinese food, especially my favourite —huoguo. You can't imagine how excited I was when I got to know that there was going to be a free meal of hotpot to welcome the new students. On the way to the canteen, I seemed to smell huoguo in the air.
To my surprise, when I went into the room, I didn't see any sign of huoguo. Where was it
With many questions in my head, I sat down to have the free meal. After talking with an English girl, I got to know that Chinese huoguo is completely different from hotpot .Chinese huoguo is written in two words —hot pot, but hotpot, one word, is a traditional English dish.
Hotpot is made from mutton(羊肉) and onion. On the top are pieces of potatoes. People put it in the oven all day in a heavy pot on a low heat. It takes very little effort to prepare. You can often see it at parties in the U. K. because it's easy to prepare for a large number of people and is not expensive.
Hotpot doesn't taste bad. However, I still miss huoguo—hot pot, two words!
( )1.The writer felt excited when she thought she would ________.
A. try traditional English food
B. learn English in the U. K.
C. have her favourite huoguo
D. meet some new friends
( )2.The underlined word "canteen" means "________" in Chinese.

( )3.Why is hotpot often prepared for parties
A. Because it's easy to prepare. B. Because it's very popular.
C. Because it's quite expensive. D. Because it's good for health.
( )4.After the free meal, the writer learnd that ________.
A. "hotpot" wasn't "hot pot"
B. hotpot took little time to cook
C. hotpot wasn't traditional in the U. K.
D. the girl knew nothing about hotpot
( )5.What is the writer's favourite food
A. Sandwiches. B. Mutton. C. Hotpot. D. Hot pot.

World's Largest Ball of Paint
In 1977, Michael Carmichael created the biggest ball of paint. Starting with a baseball as the centre, he painted layer (层) after layer. After over 25,000 layers of paint, the ball weighs around 2.5 tons. Visitors can paint the ball themselves and become part of history.
Dinosaur Park
The land can be found outside Rapid City. On a hill overlooking the city, dinosaurs made out of brightly painted concrete (混凝土) stand guard. The park was built as a work project in 1936 by Debbie Sardone. The dinosaurs are life-sized and can be seen from miles away.
The Museum of Dirt
The museum is the idea of Glenn Johanson. Labeled glass bottles contain dirt from the Great Wall of China and sand from a desert in Sandi Arabia and Omaha Beach in France. Johanson has collected material from the Amazon River and from Times Square after a New Year's Eve celebration, lava (火山岩) from Mount Fuji in Japan and shells from the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Best of all, visiting this museum is free.
Paper House
Ellis Stenman built a two-room house almost completely out of newspapers in 1922. At that time, "recycling" wasn't even a word yet. The house was framed (框住) with wood, but the walls were made of 215 layers of newspapers. The furniture was also made of newspapers. In all, it used about 100,000 newspapers.

March 16 is International Sleep Day. Studies have shown that a good night's rest helps us stay healthy, both mentally(精神地) and physically(身体地). Sleep is probably the best tool we have for memory and learning. A good night's sleep helps to learn better.
But what about getting rest during the middle of the day Short periods of sleep after a mid-day meal, we call it napping(午睡), may help our brains work better.
Past studies have shown that napping can help babies and young children learn better. And napping can help brain performance in older adults. Taking a nap may also help this group of people fight off age-related memory loss. As we all know, the older we are, the more memory we will lose.
The study found that people who took an hour-long nap did much better on mental tests than those who did not nap. The hour-long nappers also did better on the tests than those who napped for shorter and longer periods. In this study, it seems that the most effective(有效的) nap lasted for about an hour, but not much longer. Keep in mind, however, that these are the findings for those over the age of 65.
And there is a little difference between the old and young people. Doctor Michael Twery notes that an hour-long nap may be too long for young, healthy adults. And 30 minutes is enough to remove the pressure and will help them feel more awake (清醒的). If they nap longer, they will get trapped into (受困于) deep sleep, which can be hard to get out of.
If you have trouble falling asleep at night, limit (限制) your daytime nap to under 45 minutes. Also nap before 3 pm in the afternoon.
( )1.When is the International Sleep Day
A.January 16. B.February 16. C.March 16. D.May 16.
( )2.The underlined part "this group of people" refers to (指的是) _______.
A.babies B.young children
C.older adults D.young, healthy adults
( )3.People who are over the age of 65 should spend _______ napping.
A.10 minutes B.30 minutes
C.under 45 minutes D.about an hour
( )4._______30 minutes is enough for the young, healthy adults to remove the pressure and help them feel more awake.
A. Napping B. Walking C. Swimming D. Dancing
( )5.If you _______, you should reduce your nap time and nap before 3 pm in the afternoon.

B. have trouble making decisions
C. have trouble remember things
D. have trouble falling asleep at night
